I grew up in CT.

When I joined the military in 1977, people owning guns was commonplace. I grew up with my dad having his WWII 1911 by his bedside.

I joined up and left CT. My sister married a guy from the next town over, who joined the military the year after I did. He was stationed in Groton (sub base), and got his CHL (or whatever they called it back then). I believe it was $5 or so at that time.

They divorced at some point, so I have not been I touch with him for some time. I hope he still has a CHL, or I hope he has moved out of CT.

But I'm sure it is not that easy these days.

I will never ever go back, except maybe to visit the graves of my grandparents, parents, brother, aunts, uncles, etc.

At best, it will be once, before I sign off permanently.

And that is assuming some exceptional prescience/planning on my part.

New England was once upon a time, the Cradle of Liberty.

These days it is the Montessori School of Socialism.

Jesus wept...and I do too...

Daily.

I moved from NH to CT to take a job down here in 2007, things were not too bad then. Now, in 2015, I have every intention of moving back to NH within five years.

It's not just the gun control situation for me. The taxes are worse, obviously, but the SEIU ruined my life last year and created a new level of hatred of this state for me. Watching the glad-handers get richer while the little guys were ground up beneath their feet was infuriating, and some of these same people shook my hand and lied to my face.

I apologize for going off topic here but the SEIU is just evil in my mind. Now I have a new, non-union job with plenty of upward mobility and the opportunity to transfer to NH in the future. I suppose it is possible that some of the current gun control measures will be repealed, but I'm not holding my breath.
