Ok, guys

A new update on the CMP website for M1 Carbines:

Inlands are for sale first, in April, not March
Everything else waits until SEP 07
Manufactuers are listed
No mags, oilers, slings, or ammo included

*sigh*

:cuss: :banghead: :fire:

Are inlands mil-spec? Yeah, dumb question, but it never hurts to check, again. I keep thinking that there's one manufacturer that isn't so much, but I keep forgetting.

This stinks. WE KNOW THEY'RE THERE, and they won't sell them to us.

Inland made more M1s than anyone else. They've got all the late model features.

And apparently they were returned by the Italians.

ALL the CMP carbines are USGI.

Due to the relatively small percentage of carbines grading as ‘Rack’, they will not be offered for sale in 2007. Most of these carbines will be used as a source of parts for CMP repair operations.
That's kinda good. At least most of them are in better condition.

The sales schedule actually works out well. This way the less common manufacturers won't get just swept up in the mad frenzy. Plus it gives us time to save up for those. Maybe some of us could buy an Inland now and save up again for one of the less common ones later.

Kinda my thoughts. Even If I can't get a second one, it's nice to know I have a little more time to save up for the Inland.

HEY!!! My Birthday is in Sept. I wonder if my wife will buy that excuse?

Anyway... They are not accepting orders until Apr 30? That’s a Monday. So if I mail my order on Friday 2 day air... Maybe I should find a PO open Saturday and do Next day? Either way, I would not want to work for the CMP that week.

Not true. Inland made 43% of all M1 carbines produced, so yes, they by far made more tha anyone else. However, Inland made them throughout the entire duration of production. Meaning Inlands can exhibit all mannor of late and early features, high wood, low wood, L sight, adj. sight, etc, etc, etc.....

He means that all of the Carbines the CMP has were upgraded to the later model components, as per the CMP website:

All the carbines have late features - such as adjustable sights (heavily staked) with bayonet lug bands and rotary safeties. Metal parts are mixed USGI. There are no carbines with early features.

Here is the part I like the best!

* For operational reasons, we are setting a limit of one carbine per manufacturer per customer during 2007. We will revisit carbine limits in 2008.

Interesting that only service grades will be on sale in 2007. No field grades at all and no racks in 2007 I gather they are using the rack grades for parts to make good service grades.

We do not expect to have a “field” grade for these carbines.

I wonder how much they will be selling them for??

I saw a lightly used Iver Johnson built with what appeared to be military parts in a local gun store for $275. It had a sling and a couple of magazines. The Barrel was a GI barrel with a bayonette lug band. It looked like it had no wear at all.

Is it worth getting as a shooter.??

The price on USGI carbines has gone up a lot lately. It is not uncommon in Georgia to see an asking price of $700 for an average quality carbine by Inland.

I don't know how much they will sell the carbines for, but M1 Garands are about $200 less through the CMP than through other commercial sources. So if we apply that same thing to the carbine, my guess is $450-500, but that is only a guess.

I think that would be a fair price. They aren't making M1 Carbines any more and they will continue to increase in value. Sure you could get a commercial remake, but these will have poor resale value now, and it won't get much better later. As time passes, the number of people wanting real USGI carbines will increase, but the number of carbines will stay the same or decrease.

Another reason the AO guns look so nice to me.

They are $550 or so new. With a warrantee, and all the GI parts I've tried have fit perfectly.

This is fabulous! A limit is necessary when CMP has prices below market value.

Can someone who is registered on the CMP Forum ask Orest if they will be selling Carbines at the CMP North store at Camp Perry?

I was registered there, but can't log in for some reason.
