First off, sorry if the title makes absolutely no sense. It just sounded cool in my head. Secondly, this topic is much different than my last about the snake guns. I now have a better idea of why some people are so against them for reasons entirely unrelated to the physical firearms themselves. While I believe every one of the new snakes (especially the Python) warrants the classic name, I can understand why others would feel differently...regardless of whether I agree with them or not.
With all that out of the way, this topic is entirely about sells and availability at your local FFL.
I only go to one specific shop routinely. It seems like every other day they'll get a couple of snake guns in, put them in the case, and then they're almost instantly gone. It's not an exaggeration. I walked in on a King Cobra a couple of weeks ago and got super excited to look at it. Suddenly the guy pulled it out of the case and I realized the person in front of me had just filled out the paperwork and bought it. My heart was crushed. Then a few days ago I saw a King Cobra Carry in the case. I didn't have time to look at it as I was on lunch and just stopping in to pay on a layaway. Next day...gone.
A bit over a month ago when I got my Cobra, they had also received a Python and a Night Cobra that same morning. I only knew about the Python because I asked if they had gotten any in yet. The guy told me it was out the door for $2000 within an hour of putting it in the case. Obviously the standard Cobra also sold that day cause I bought it. That left the Night Cobra. All I know is that it was also gone when I went back then next evening.
Now I've personally asked if they get snake guns in often or not and was told that their distributor sends what he has but they're almost always gone the day they hit the case.
Obviously we're going through a crazy time in the world but these are rather expensive "antiquated" revolvers. It seems like Colt has really kept themselves busy with these guns. It just makes me wonder about everywhere else in the country. Any of you have better luck with finding a snake gun on any given day?
