Why do so many people dislike the new snake guns?

The new Cobra wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for that wonky bent up triggerguard and the hideous stepped barrel. Who came up with that idea?

The triggerguard looks like the gun has been dropped, and it bent IN, hardly allowing for more room in front of the trigger. The barrel could have been tapered in a MUCH more pleasing manner.

They seem to be selling well and your dislike of two features is the first complaint I’ve read about them. Maybe you are in the minority.

Your getting MIM and poor QC any which way you go so might as well roll the dice on one you like! Too bad but maybe true
This is not exactly true. Even though I own this Korth which is neither of the things mentioned above, I will still eventually buy a new model Python. I think that a very few guns had some problems and a lot of people jumped on Colt pretty hard about it, so they just don't want to realize that it is a pretty nice revolver. Let them moan about it alll they want that will make it easier to find when I get around to buying one.

I own three and love them all. That said, I wish they'd given them new names. I can see "Copperhead, Cottonmouth, Rattler, Coral Snake, and others. Alas I was not consulted.
They could DLC coat a Stainless model and call it the Black Mamba. I'd buy it.

I am not sure they are disliked so much as not fully trusted. Hickock45 is probably the most watched and trusted guntuber and he had an issue with what was likely one of the first ones off the production line. I think pretty much all revolver aficionados want to see a Anaconda.

It seems I have been in the minority for quite some time now.
I actually prefer the front sight blade like what is on my mid 70’s Cobra and Detective Special. The fiber optic front sight on the new ones probably has more utility though.

I’m in the minority on a number of things myself:
I prefer a blind magazine to a hinged floorplate and prefer a hinged floorplate to a DBM.

I can’t stand tiny loading/ejection ports that seems to have taken off with the Axis, 783 and RAR.

I also have a thing for .380’s that are so big they kind of defeat the purpose of having a .380 and also don’t hold many rounds for their size, ergo the Beretta Cheetah.

nothing "wrong" with the newer snake guns... they are just "snake guns" in name only- they are not hand fitted etc. they may be better in some respects but they are riding on the old names and similar looks to get them through... two different animals in my eyes...

Well, the old “snake guns” that followed the Python were themselves just riding on their unwarranted association with it. None of them were anything special. The ones released from the 1980s on were crude and unremarkable, just like everything else Colt made in that era.

I haven't fired a new Python but I have Two new Cobras and a king Cobra. I love them. and as to the old ones? I have many old ones since I've been collecting D frames for over 30 years

^+1 on the bolded part. Also +1 on the Anaconda, however they would probably have the same QC problems.
