Looking for a commander sized 1911 with 1K as top price...have opportunity to get 2009 95% DW CBOB or new Colt LWC. Both fitting price ...
Whatcha think?

My opinion isn't worth much but I'd take the DW. I have 4 of them and everyone has been flawless!

I'd recommend putting your hands on the CBOB before committing, it will feel different than a traditional 1911. That aside, I'd call it a toss-up.

A new LWC is a very nicely made gun and, having a bit of a Colt bias, that's the direction I'd personally go, but to echo other sentiments, it really is down to which gun you prefer.
The only rational justification to choose one over the other, unless you have a brand bias, is the CBOB grip. Some like it, some not so much. Skylerbone already stated it... try them both side by each.

I've installed a few bobtail MSHs, and being an obstinate PITA, I'm the guy that would get the Colt and do my own bobtail rather than get the CBOB. :D

The CBOB will feel different in your hand due to how the MSH falls away from your palm.

But, if you like the feel of it, the DW CBOB is likely to have a better build/fit quality than the Colt and is the better buy as a carry/defensive use gun

In my opinion, after looking at almost all the major gunmakers, the best gun is DW. The Baer is close.

I'm also a big Colt fan but the DW CBOB is a very well made pistol. Try the DW out and see if it's to your liking. Since it is used is there any way to try it out first before buying it?

I have been impressed with the DW's of late.

If I could not open carry my full size Kimber TLE, I would seriously look at the Bobtailed Commander sized firearm.

I would personally choose the DW CBOB if it were me (IMHO). Of course I own a CZ DW CBOB .45ACP, so I'm a little biased.;) The only advantage I can see the Colt LWC has over the DW CBOB is that it is lighter for carry (the Colt LWC has an alum. alloy frame, where the DW CBOB has a stainless steel frame). If less weight is your first and major priority, then the Colt LWC is the way to go, but if you don't mind carrying a little extra weight, then the CBOB is the better gun (again IMHO).

Got both; love both. CBOB gets the nod 'cause of the frontstrap checkering and nightsights, also doesn't have all the sharp edges of the Colt, but I believe the Colt is more accurate (though its lighter weight makes it a tad more difficult to shoot). I tend to carry the Colt LWC more due to the lighter weight (believe me, those few ounces make a difference).

Can't go wrong either way!

(BTW, where can you get a new LWC for 1K? My last LWC XSE was about $1065 OTD.)

I'd chose the DW especially since it has been perfected by CZ. They used to be great pistols. Then in the 90's, things began going down hill with their quality. Since CZ took over, they have been greatly improved to the point that they are probably better than they were before their quality began to suffer. I wish I had the money to spend on one. :(

Olympus, that is absolutely beautiful. The grips are amazing.

i have owned and trusted Colts for a very long time, and believe they are very good production guns. That being said, if my two 2012 production DWs are any example, the DW's fit of barrel/slide/frame, trigger quality and general component quality is a very obvious step up from my Colts. With the new Colt, you would have a warranty though. Decisions, Decisions...
