I have a RIA .38 Super on layway - awaiting a sequence of 30 day waiting periods between handgun purchases here in California before I can actually buy it, but I'm anticipating it will be a superb pistol. Based on the fit and finish of the .45ACP version I have I'm looking forward to the .38 Super chambering. I know RIA was using ramped barrels in their Supers some time back, but I haven't seen anything lately to know whether they have gone with non-ramped.
In any case, the Super is a GREAT cartridge that has not received proper respect from a fickle shooting public because it was originally designed to headspace on the RIM which led to inaccuracy, and it wasn't a military round, and it never became a primary police round thanks in part to the emergence of the .357 Magnum revolver. But the .38 Super seems to be experiencing a bit of resurgence as more and more people "discover" we've had the 357 Sig all along...
