New Crimson Trace J-frame Grips--When Available??

Gunblast.com has a couple of pictures from the SHOT show of the much thinner new J-frame Crimson Trace laser grips. There's no info there or on internet or CT website that says when they'll be available.

Does anyone have any scoop on availability/pricing of these new grips?

Had seen nothing about them but hey - my grips on SP-101 which are all but J frame grips - would not want anything slimmer, to be honest!!!

Just me but they look - errr - yuk!!

I was told they wouldn't be out before the middle of the year, but I think they will be worth the wait...

You need to hold them before forming an opinion. I have small hands with long fingers, and they felt good too me. The backstrap is covered with rubber that has built-in ribs or air cells which absorb recoil. They are intended for pocket carry, and in that role I think they'll be very good, especially on ultra-lightweight J-frame Smith & Wesson's - which I don't use, but many do. I agree that on a larger/heavier SP-101 they wouldn't offer much advantage.

You're right Fuff - I was being hasty!! I should indeed try em out first.

I think tho with my largish hams they would just feel too skinny. The bit that does appeal is the rubber backstrap portion - now that sound good.

CT's new J-frame grips should be available in June or thereabouts. I handled them at the show and think they do a really good job of retaining the small-hands advantage of a J-frame. I liked the mixed texture too, and am eager to shoot a set to see if they're as comfy as it seemed they would be.

The other thing interesting at the CT booth was wood-grain 1911 grips. Of course they're not real wood (couldn't be), but the overall look wasn't bad. Only gripe about the aesthetics is that CT chose to go with shiny rather than matte; I suspect that a matte wood grain look would have been a little more attractive. Still, it's a step in the right direction and I hope they give similar consideration to aesthetics in other new products.
