Another question about the j frame and crimson trace. The one I am looking at seems to come with the 305 grips which is the larger of the crimson trace grips for the J Frame. Are these too large for carry. Does anyone here carry with the 305 grips? Also if I decided to sell them and buy one if the smaller ones what would be a fair price for a almost new set of crimson trace 305 grips (if you can't tell I am a laser rookie :) )

I think I have that size in my Taurus 85, it certainly makes it harder to conceal, but it's the weight that makes the most difference. My 85 is steel.

The smaller size fits in a pocket quite a bit better, and I have a J Frame in Aluminum with the smaller size grips. I don't see any disadvantage to the smaller grips, even with a lighter gun 38sp +p is pretty easy to shoot with the smaller grip.

I can't help with price. You may want to check GunBroker or Auction Arms and see what used ones are fetching.

I have a 640 with the 305's and a 340pd with the 405's The 340 will hide in a pocket holster in dress pants. The 640 will not. As for felt recoil, if I need this gun to defend my life, it won't matter.

I pocket carry a J-frame with the smaller crimson trace grips. As far as holster fit, the leather Galco Pocket Protector works fine and would work with the larger grips as well. Stay away from the Nemisis holster, it doesn't stick in the pocket and often comes out with the gun when you draw (very bad).
