so i got an interesting story
I go to a wednesday night, informal steel plate shoot in gainesville
normally i shoot my Gen2 g19, which i used to think i shot pretty well with...until lately
over the last month or 2 i started having problems hitting even half of my targets....naturally i blamed the gun lol...so the next week i tried my dads g17, same problem...so the next week it was my moms M&P9...still to no avail
I was starting to get worried...i took the g19 to the range before the shoot started to put it on paper...i was all over the place at 7 yards, not to mention 15
so the shoot started like an hour later and i wasnt feeling to confident...
3 stages
1= 4x 8" plates at 10 yards/ 5 4x8 plates at 15 yards
2= 10 yards 8 plate polish plate rack
3= 5 4x8 plates and 5 8 inch tall animals
(3 magazines of 6 rounds per stage, in the clock, 100 sec penalty for missed target left standing....cant miss fast enough to win lol)
using my g19, i started at 3 and shot and missed 4 plates...wasnt to happy at that point
went to reload my mags and one of the other guys offers me his "baby", a CZ custom shop SP-01 Shadow
I reluctantly accepted and when he handed it to me it was one of those "epiphany moments"...ive never held a CZ let alone fired one, it it fit my hand like a glove (2 mags of 9 rounds cuz thats all it had)
went and did stage 1 with it and left 1 standing...not too bad for a gun i have no experience with and no confidence in my self lol
reloaded the mags and went on to stage #2...the polish plate rack
ive never been able to shoot it well at all...(best ive ever done is use up 18 rounds and only hit 2 plates with the M&P9)
Loaded up the CZ and it was like an act of god...shot it almost clean, had one plate left and would have got it had i not shorted my self on ammo by not counting the ammo i put in...i was unknowingly 2 bullets short when i started the stage
they say its not the gun that makes the shooter, and with that I agree, but it seems sometimes we run into a gun that just speaks to us and actually agrees with us too
unfortunately the SP-01 Shadow that is now at the tippy top of my list DOES NOT agree with a college students budget
my new dream gun
