I am saving up for a new cz rifle i was looking at the 527 carbine in 7.62x39. I can get one for just under $600. I am working at a gun shop so that helps some on the price, the owner is a nice guy and will let me get it for cost.I like to have him get a real number for me but seams like 590 to 600 range i am planing of just using the sights maybe pick up the n.e.c.g receiver peep. But id like to get a cz 550 fs. I love me a mannlicher stock. they are not made any more.

Some places have them for about $710. Id like a long action cartridge because the shorts have a funny mag thing and i like a hinged floor plate. Buds has less then 5 in 3006 for the $710. I don't care for 30-06 much but that's me not the cartridge. Id like to find a 6.5 swede or a 9.3x62 but cant find any. If i got the 30-06 i would re barrel it to 7x57 or 280. There is no chance of me finding a older 7x57 for sale under $800. Just like to see what u guys would do. Get the carbine and have a cheap fun gun or try to get the 550 fs. thanks. troy.

Umm, if I follow you correctly... get the 527 in x39? If I misunderstood something in there, I'm sorry.

The kind of shooting you plan to do would have something to do with your choice. For a knock around "short range" rifle, a 16" x39 would be hard to beat. Especially if it will be in and out of the truck. For stand or blind hunting, it may not be the best, unless your ranges are very short.

I have a 527 carbine in x39 and it is just awesome! Easily my favorite toy. But the fs model 550's call to me as well, and if I can swing it I will get a 30-06, or if I can, a 7x57. Those FS rifles are one of the nicest i have ever had my hands on.

I have a 527Lux 12T 223. It was a bit tight on the bolt. I kept it well lubed and would sit in front of boob tube cycling it..... for a looooong time, haha. It finally smoothed up.But still, when running rounds up through the mag,you can't do it slow.Just gotta rack it like you mean it.

Wonderfully accurate with 55g bullets. I had a scope on it but took it off..... the factory irons work great for my 60 year old eyes. We bust beer cans offhand at 75 yds with confidence.

Am looking for a 6.5X55 FS as another, fun gun. Good luck with your project.

ya im looking at a 7.62x39. i hunt all kinds of ways and chose the gun the day off the hunt. i don't hunt stands but ground hunt most. i like the blinds but are not really needed i just pick a stump or a nice pot on the many rock walls we have here in ny. thanks for the reply.

both are very nice id like to find fs before they are gone.if i find a 7x57 there a good chance i cant afforded it.a gun shop here has a very nice ruger m77 tang one of the 200 year ones in 7x57 for 599. it has the steel bottom metal and floor plate. if it had a scope i would have gotten it by now.

A cz 550 fs in 6.5 sweede is on my bucket list. There is just something about the full stock on them. I'd be afraid to beat it up to much in the woods, but I'd damn sure take it out a few times!. However to scratch my itch I picked up a cz 527 carbine in 223. Sweet little gun. The micro Mauser (although 2 position) is cool . I put a 2-7 x28Leupold vx2 compact on it with warne quick release rings so I can use irons when I please.. Set trigger is another cool feature it has too. Either way you can't go wrong. Sad to hear cz stopped making the 550 line. I hope they take to making them again in the future.

i wish i needed a 223 they still make the 527 fs in 223.

Have the 550 FS in 308 and absolutely love it. Anything in a Mannlicher stock just calls to me. But CZ is an just awesome platform. I actually think they are worth more than they cost.
am i right on the short action cartridges having the little mag thin ?. i wish there were some aftermarket mannlicher stock out there. i have a custom 09 Argentine mauser i am thinking of making into one but i like the gun how it is. i got another mauser dun in Germany late in the war with express sights i could use. id really need just an action but moneys slow right now. and i waiting to see if my dad gets a new lathe lol.

I have owned a 527M carbine in 223/5.56 for a couple of years now. Still one of my favorite firearms. Extremely accurate, with light and easy handling. It has the look and feel of a quality manufactured rifle

Ive got both of the rifles you are looking at, the 550 in 30-06. If I could only pick one I would keep the 527 just because there arent any other rifles like it, for up close hunting itll do the job, its light handy short and high quality. I agree with the others that said it is worth more than they currently charge for them.

I love my 550 FS, but it is not a light gun in any respect. A different animal than the 527.
