Nice bull dog!

Funny how opinions and priorities change. I spent many years with a negative attitude about charter revolvers. It wasn't based on anything but I thought they looked weird .

Well, you bunch of enablers here keep posting pictures of charters that look better to me with every picture. Chamberings and configurations not common from other makers intrigue me now. Charter intrigues me more and more. I'm kinda feeling the itch for one . I see they are great revolvers and so many of you all hold them in high regard , I think I need to pick one up.

If I could just get back the years I spent disliking something I knew nothing about.

I love my CAs and a Target Bulldog, which I still have, was my second revolver ever.

That said, they do appear halfway or more from a good S&W/Colt to those craptackular cold-war era West German pistols.

In this case, the looks are deceiving.

The cranes and cylinder releases often look like afterthoughts, the variations in the finishes take *two-tone* to a ridiculous degree.

Still - they are doggone solid performers at a blue-collar price and their inherent - though less obvious external - beauty shines clearly through to the owner.

Too, they are wonderfully light.

Not for nothing is the primary moniker *Bulldog* within their lineup.;)

Todd.

Well, bad news for me. That model isn’t on the approved roster for California.

Our CA options are limited to mostly 2 -2.5” barreled .38 Specials, 4 different Bulldogs by color with 2.5” barrels, 1 Mag Pug and a 4.2” Pathfinder .22LR.

I kind of have a thing for the looks of that 2.5” Bulldog Tiger - model 24420.
I wouldn’t have a revolver Cerakoted like that but if it already came that way...What the heck! ;)

The .44 Bulldog is a good gun. I had (actually still have) one for years that I got from someone who just about beat it to death. Carried it as a "woods gun" for many years and took quite a few grouse with it. Anyhow, it was subjected to many hot hand-loads before I got it. Shot a coyote with it once. Now she will miss-fire on fast double action once in a while, so she's kind of retired now. I could fix it easy I think, just "haven't got around to it". !! They will certainly take use and abuse.

Couple of years ago I got a real nice one like in the first post from a friend for cheap. Not sure if it had ever been fired. I like them because they are very light, (25oz?) but fire a full power .44spl load just fine. And the .44 shot-shells work very well on small game. They aren't bad guns.

I still carry one I bought new in 1987. If you don't abuse them with heavy loads they hold up quite well. 200 gr. JHP @ 900 fps is very close to the energy of a .45 ACP and won't beat the gun to death. Be aware that a large percentage of used ones will have been beaten to death. As Cooper said "Carry it a lot - shoot it a little". The light weight (19 oz.) is unbelievable. The stock wood grips seem comfortable - for about 5 rounds. If you plan to practice much with it you'll want some rubber Pachmyrs.

New (to me) Charter Arms Bulldog .44 was added to the revolver stash Saturday. Haven't shot it yet but will soon.

VERY sweet! That has to be about the nicest looking Charter Arms I have ever seen.

I can't seem to keep one. I always seem to run across someone who wants it more than I do. Latest was a Boomer with the flat black finish. I bought it, took it to the range and a fellow there about broke his arm reaching for his wallet to buy it from me. Said he'd been looking for one for over a year. Paid me twice what I paid and was happy about it. o_O

Are you joking? That has to be sarcasm.
No. I wish I was. The number of CA revolvers on the “Roster” is very limited. Probably because for each gun in each color or finish the manufacturer must provide 10 models of each for testing to get a model on the list. It’s very expensive so some manufacturers limit their submissions for test.

And your state representatives don't know how truly insane that is? "OMG! It's Fuchsia! That makes it a weapon of terror! Eeeeek!" :what:

But wait, let me guess... Fuchsia is fine but matt black is banned...

Sir, no offense but, the state of your state is awful. I'd invite you to move to Florida but, I'd imagine if you could, you would have already.
