Just received my new high-polish, 9mm SFS Hi Power from CDNN. It arrived at my transfer dealer this week. I stopped by last night to fill out the paperwork and now starts the 3 day Illinois waiting period.

CDNN is selling them at a killer price...$429 for matte and $499 for polished blue. These of course are exactly the same as Browning's but with an FN rollmark...and aobut $150-200 lower price.

I did play with it some...these are as nice as any Browning version, with the exception of the hammer. The hammer has a matte finish thats a little out of place. I owned a 70's vintage BHP in the 80's (stupidly sold it in 1990 for a measly $350 when I was young and poor) and the polish on this one is every bit as good as my original. I briefly owned a FEG P9M but the fit/finish just wasn't up to what I remembered. I sold that to finance part of a Para Ord P14.45.

The sights are MKIII (as is the ambi safety) and the inserts are not painted. The mag release is of the extended type. It came with a 10 rd. mag, probably Mec Gar (made in Italy) and a KRD 15 rd mag. The SFS system is neat and seems to work well in my 15 minutes of playing with the pistol last night. (If you want more info on the system, go here http://www.cylinder-slide.com/sfs.htm )

I thought the differences in the trigger with the 2 different mags was astounding. The 10-rnd foctory mag gave a crisp, if slightly heavy trigger release. The trigger with the KRD mag in was long, gritty and mushy. Dang mag disconnector.

I pick up the gun on Sunday night but wouldn't you know it I'm leaving for a week on business on Monday. Will miss my new toy. Happy to have a HP in the stable again though. Can't beat a HP for elegance, **feel** and retro-cool factor. Two of my favorite guns -- FN-FAL and FN HP -- designed by the same guy. Long live Dieudonne Saive!!

Will post pics when I get a chance EDIT: This isn't mine but it is an identical model
