Ok so I finally got a glock... I love it.. Just a question for you glock owners.. I got a buddy to sell me his glock 17 with about 100 rounds through it for $300.. the gun is in incredible shape.. like i said i am new to glocks .. I have shot them but not owned one.. I notice after you dry fire it the firing pin looks like it sticks out after it has been dry fired .. Is that normal? After you pull the slide back it (firing pin) goes back in again.. Is this normal? Thanks

Yes, that is normal. $300 is a great deal for that gun! :D

Back to the firing pin, when the slide is racked, the firing pin will go back into the slide.

good!! .. Thats what I thought but wasn't sure.. Ya I even told him he was giving me a really good deal and I told him I didn't want him to feel like he was getting ripped off .. I am really looking forward to seeing how it shoots tomorrow..

He is even going to give me the ported barrel when he can find it .. It came with 3 magazines and a holster .. I made out like a bandit I think

You were ripped off. I'll help you out and buy it from you for $320...

Seriously, great price, great gun, firing pin as you described is normal.

OH my God!! A little distorted? You got a great deal. I don't even like the G17 but I would have loved to have bought this one!! Great price and welcome to the wonderful world of GLOCK!!

Ya .. It was funny .. He told me he would sell me his Glock 19 .. I didn't know until I saw it that it was a glock 17 ... I was thinking for two days that I was going to get a glock 19 .. I was a little disappointed .. But for the price .. You can't beat it

Yes GREAT price.

Not sure if GLOCK 17 is better than GLOCK 19.

Where I live these days I have to pay around 5K for a Glock.:banghead:

Took it out and put 200 rounds through it today .. Shot flawlessly .. I am VERy happy with it ..

Yes, I know we all have seen a glock before .. But I took this today at the range.. still happy about the gun!

Congratulations, you got Glock's best pistol (the model 17 that is). That's the one that started the Glock revolution, and it (in my opinion) is the best platform available from Glock bar-none.

Awesome deal. I paid $325 for a very used 2nd gen Glock 23 recently. So used in fact the finish is worn thin. I still think I got a great deal. You just don't see many Glocks in the $300 price range regardless of condition.

A little history lesson.
When Glocks first arrived in US, this was about late 1985, early 1986 the only ones available were Model 17s and they retailed for $350.00.
Very few dealers sold them for less than this at that time too.
The guns came with a really bad adjustable sight but the distributers would send a factory fixed rear sight for $10.00 additional, dealer cost.

Most buyers weren't terribly impressed with the pistols until they went out and shot them.
I shot my first Glock 17 in 1987 and then pretty much ignored them until about 1999 when I bought one of the first Model 34 pistols to come in.
Been buying and shooting Glocks ever since:)

I stepped into Glocks slightly backwards compared to most...

I purchased my first Glock, a second generation Glock 21, in early 1991. Some people were reporting problems with the early mags failing to feed some .45ACP hollowpoints (even though the one that I had was doing all right with Speer 200gr 'flying ashtrays'), so I sent back all my mags to Glock and they replaced the followers and springs at no charge to me (except for the postage to send the mags to them, of course)...

I liked the Glock 21 so much that I turned right around and picked up a new Glock 17 (also in 1991), also a second generation gun.

My brother has a second generation Glock 19, also a great gun.

The feel of any handgun in the hand is somewhat of a personal sort of thing. I have pretty big hands, and the second generation Glock 21 feels good in my hand. The second generation Glock 17 has never felt quite as good because it swells on the backstrap right in the wrong place for my hand. It's still not bad, but not quite right. The second generation Glock 19 feels perfect in my hand. As a matter of fact, I liked my brother's second generation Glock 19 so much that I finally decided to pick one up for myself. Being a little smarter these days (yeah, sure...) than in the past, I actually went to a shop and handled the new 3rd generation Glocks before I ordered one...

What I found was that the current generation Glock 19 frame with the finger grooves on the front strap doesn't feel anywhere near as good in my hand as the second generation Glock 19 does...

But I found that the current generation Glock 17 feels really good.

So I decided to get a current generation Glock 17 instead of the Glock 19...

All's well that ends well...

:)
