New Grand Daughter:

Well folks, on the 14th of May my daughter gave birth to her second daughter, this one on her birthday. Every one is doing great.

New gun:

On saturday I was at a clients working on their computer when my wife called and told me my CHL had finally arived. The client overheard and said she had a gun for sale. When I asked what it was she said ".357" and she wanted $75. I looked at it and it is an EAA Windicator in blue with a 2" barrell, It came with a holster a box of shells and 2 speed loaders. Can hardly wait to shoot it.

What are good self defense loads in .38 spcl and .357? This is the first handgun I have owned in anything other than .22, .44 or .45. So any help would be appreciated.

Oh, by the way, her name is Kira Andrea, the Grand Daughter not the gun.

First of all, and most importantly, congrats on the newest addition. :p

Our house gun is a 686 and I keep it loaded with 4 Blue Glasers and 2 rounds of 158 Gr LSWC 357s... Just in case. If I carried a 357, I would probably keep it loaded with Gold Dots but I'd feel safe with just about any 125 Gr HP ammo. If I carried a 38 Special, esp. a short barreled gun, I'd try to find some of the Deferal Nyclad ammo. I have a couple boxes of it left just in case I ever need to carry a 38 snub. There was an article in Guns & Ammo a few years back, that did expansion and velocity testing with a 2" revolver and the Nyclad did very well plus the Nyclad is what an old family member used to end an altercation. This doesn't mean it will or should work for anyone else, but it convinced me. ;)

Congratulations on the new granddaughter. Have you been to visit her yet? Kinda neat to see the new little one and reassure the older sister that everyone still loves her too.
