Last summer I bought a 3.5” model 27. It came wearing K frame targets, which I knew. I put a set of Altamonts on it while occasionally looking for a set of period correct grips.

Every set of diamond centered, N frame magnas I ran across was $125-250 and the ones for $125 weren’t that great.
A couple weeks ago I came across a set on GunBroker that had a penny start and were up to only around $15.00 when I put them on my watch list. I promptly forgot about them. Last Sunday afternoon I was checking email and had a notification from GunBroker of a watched item about to end.
I checked and it was the grips which were now at $45.00. I bid a $57.00 max and moved on. This was around 7pm on Super Bowl Sunday. When I checked in with around 15 minutes left there had been no action and I ended up getting them for $46 plus S&H.

Somewhere along the way someone put a glossy clear coat on them. I’ll probably dull them a bit with fine steel wool.
Was pretty happy to get them for as cheap as I did. I thank the Super Bowl for that.

LoL! If it was a one-sided game, you probably wouldn't have won them. Nice luck for you that it was actually a close one. :)

Thanks. I will be using the Altamont grips when at the range I think. They are comfortable. I may look for a vintage Tyler T Grip to go with the Magnas. I had used some fine steel wool on those to dull the glossy finish someone had applied before the photos but they need a little more attention

Nice score!

I would try some Murphy’s Oil Soap with a soft bristle tooth brush on those grip panels. It would help clean them up a bit, especially the checkering and inlays.
