New guy from Kansas looking for my dad's stolen Vietnam bring back
Hi all! I am joining as many boards and forums as I can to get this info out to as many dealers/collectors that I can. I am on a mission to try and locate my dad's Vietnam war trophy pistol. It is a 1966 Chinese/CHICOM Type 54 (K-54 per capture documents) 7.62 mm pistol. The serial # if still intact is 13000041. My dad brought it back from Vietnam in 1971. Unfortunately, it was stolen from my childhood home in the NC mountains, sometime around 1982 ( I was around 12-13 years-old at the time). There was a police report made at the time with the local police department. However, I just found out recently from the current sheriff of that town, that the gun serial# does not show up in the NCIC database as stolen. So, it apparently was not added to that database at the time of the original report. The sheriff thinks it will be difficult to add to that database now, as so much time has passed, and the question of ownership is in question, as my dad passed several years back. I could not find a copy of the police report in my dad's belongings and the sheriff doesn't think it is possible for him to find a report that far back. What I do have is all the original capture documents that go with this gun, even the Vietnamese export license typed on rice paper. My name is on all that paperwork sort of, as I have the same name as my dad. The gun meant a lot to my dad and it means a lot to me as my dad had just promised to pass it down to me shortly before it was stolen. I hope that it may have ended up in the hands of a collector. Until I can figure out a way to get the gun entered into the NCIC, I am taking to the internet and reporting the gun on all the internet stolen weapon databases. I am offering a reward of double the gun's value for it's return, no questions asked. Please pass this info along to any and all collectors that may collect similar guns. Thank you.
