I have a C-15 Sporter which up 'till this afternoon functioned fine. I Lock-n-Load, fire and the bolt carried group has stopped on the return stroke with the bolt lugs even with the center of the ejection port cover. The next round has been stripped from the magazine. The forward assist won't move the bolt carrier.

I have stripped the weapon and cleaned/relubed,checked for obstructions or binding, tried 6 different magazines (3 20's and 3 30's) and different ammo,Silver Bear in 55&62 gr.,LC in 55&62 mil.spec and hand loads. Still the problem.

I am at a loss. Jan 2,06 this critter was feed with out a fuss and given a nice clean up. Now? Any helpful thoughts for my sick critter would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like maybe the disconnect is letting the hammer follow the carrier and stopping it on the angled ramp adjacent to the rear of the firing pin. That angle..and the matching one on the top of the hammer... was milled to prevent doubling or burst-fire...and to prevent some enterprising fool from removing the disconnect to see if the gun would slam-fire in the full-auto mode....which it might but probably would be more likely to fire out of battery with a resounding ka-BOOM!

Lemme see if this sounds about right. Fire one round and it stops. Pull the carrier handle back and it goes to battery and repeats on the next shot.
If that describes it...it's the disconnect.

Look and see if the pin that it mounts on has walked part-way out one side of the receiver...

Yes sir, you described the malfunction perfectly. I noticed The pin had walked out after the last firing session but simply pressed it back in with a mental note to keep an eye on it. Today the pin was fine probably due to the lack of a workout. The pin is still loose enough to move with just finger pressure.

If understand correctly, the hammer is following the bolt home instead of engaging the sear and causeing the bolt to stop before going into battery?

Actually, the disconnect isn't catching the hammer hook. Once the hook has it, the trigger is released and the hammer falls back to the sear. If the disconnect doesn't snag the hammer, it rolls forward while the sear is still in the fire position.

The sear is actually an integral part of the trigger assembly...at the very front of the trigger. Get the upper off and work the hammer and trigger to see how it works...then you can see what the problem is and what it'll take to correct it.

Ah, now I see. Thank you sir.:)

After a visit to Numrich gun parts to order a couple of new disconnect springs, critter will be well again. Thank you again.
