I recently purchased a 40 calibere taurus buy S&W. Shot it for the first time yesterday. Not very accurate, It is very possibly the shooter and wondering about the gun and loads. Any help on what I should shoot out of it, and needing techs on how to. Any help is apreciated.

No, I use to shoot with my dad alot when I was a kid. I decided the chicks and cars were more fun when I got older and now at 26 have fell back in love with guns when a friend reintroduced me. I know basic and even intermediate gun safety and remember alot from my childhood. The main problem I am having is jamming. I bought some reloads from the store down the street and I am wondering if this is the problem or if this is just a gun that is unreliable. Also if the gun is reliable what rounds are the most reliable in it.

A little more information might help. Is this one of the Taurus Millenniums? If so, a search here for posts on that model would be in order.

I would try as many different tpes of ammo as you can find. If it still won't work blame the gun. What model is the gun anyway?

Unfortunatly, the gun is not in my hands, as I left it with a friend for cleaning until he teaches me how to do so properly myself. I will have more info for you at a later date, but as others have implied, I may not need it when I use the search function

An inordinate number of FTE (failure to extract) indicates limpwristing may be a problem. Limpwristing is a condition common to slide guns where the shooter does not have a good solid grip on the handgun. Recoil energy is used to move the slide against a spring but if the entire platform moves the slide will not move to the rear completely. Hence the failure to extract.

If its been a while since you were into guns, I recommend a basic handgunning course followed by a basic safety course. Course are inexpensive because of the mistakes you will avoid. Sorta gets the head cleared and mind focused.
