I was wondering if anyone noticed that Hodgdon is showing a new powder (to me) in some loadings.
It's listed as suprform, and a search revealed it might be the powder being used in the Super Performance ammo from Hornady. It seems to provide that in some loads.

I saw Suprform listed as powder choice in the Hodgdon Reloading Data Center but can't find any info on the main Hodgdon website ?????

Don't worry, I'm fairly sure you will have information on the Hodgdon site soon. There was data for 8208 XBR weeks before that powder was listed on the main IMR site. I'm guessing the same will happen here.

I can't wait to see what they say about this powder. If it is a similar powder to what Hornady is using it may render a lot of other powder obsolete. I would love to add 150 fps to my 30-06 ammo without losing accuracy while generating less pressure.

Check out the load data for the 30-30, there's a powder called LRV there I'm guessing is Hodgdon's new Leverevolution powder.

They have load data on their online load data center for the 2 new powders...but only for a few calibers so far.

Go over to the "select powder" tab and select the powder...then go to the caliber selection, it will only list the available calibers for that powder

Aww man... A Leverevolution powder?!?! and here I JUST bought a new pound of RL15 like a week ago. haha. wait I mean... A Leverevolution powder?! awesome!

I'm looking forward to getting some of that Superformance. I've been using RL15 because it works just as well as Varget and I get better velocities. That Superformance might get me even more velocity? Sounds good if accuracy doesn't fall off.

JUST A WORD OF CAUTION!!!

I was working up some loads using .30-30 FTX leverevolution bullets along with the new leverevolution powder. I ended up with a case head failure when using once fired hornady brass. I had just gotten up about 2300fps with 34.5grains. Factory leverevolution shoots at about 2375 in my henry 30-30. Max load on the powder canister is 35.5C.

After the failure I went back and using a wire felt inside each of the hornady cases (fired once as an original factory load) and lo and behold about 90% of them showed thinning of the case that would lead to incipent case head separation. None of the remington cases that I reloaded with similar powder loads showed any evident thinning of the case.

If you are going to reload hornady leverevolution cases....check them out closely before using them.

Sounds like shoulders pushed back too far combined with high pressure.

I contacted them about their superformance powder and they said it only works well for certain calibers so beware.

Walkalong, The point was that the damage to the case was done on the original firing of the factory ammunition. 90% of the once fired factory leverevolution cases I had, had a noticible thinning of the case near a slight pressure band visible on the outside of the case. After cutting a few cases in half, I under the belief these would have still failed if I neck sized them and used a similar load.
