I decided I needed a weekend project so I made a new holster for my 4 inch S&W 617.
I like carrying my gun in a holster during Steel Challenge matches instead of having to bag it between stages. This gives me one less thing to put in my already heavy bag.
The holster is made of two thicknesses of 10 ounce leather with a layer of rawhide in the middle to keep it stiff. The belt loop has an 18 gauge metal strap between the two layers of leather so that the holster doesn't bend.
Everything is hand stitched.
