Why thank you. I've had over 6 super Blackhawks over the years. I was 19 (federal law says you can own a handgun at 18 just can't buy from an FFL dealer) bought my first handgun at a private sale from a gentleman at the bass pro in San Antonio. Concealed carried it in a leather shoulder holster I got off eBay. Those were the days.Congratulations! My BH convertible 45 and my SBH 44 magnum are two of my favorite revolvers.
What are you defending your home against, Cape Buffalo?
I would but I've had trouble finding pocket holsters for it.Just home defense? You're not gonna pocket-carry it?
My mother in law qualifies as "big, dangerous game" so there's that... In all seriousness it would make a dandy defensive gun in a pinch with a .45 Colt hollow point. What are you defending your home against, Cape Buffalo?
I'll buy some Lehigh extreme penetrators for the armor. Can't have something out there posing a threat.Apparently anything, short of armor.
Nice pistol OP!
Not my first choice either, the 12ga comes out first. Not exactly my first choice for home defense but you definitely have all your bases covered with that piece of light artillery!

LOL! Those are some good comments there. My mother in law qualifies as "big, dangerous game" so there's that... In all seriousness it would make a dandy defensive gun in a pinch with a .45 Colt hollow point.
Haven't tried it yet. The man I got it from gave me some ammo. Federal Swift A Frame and Winchester dual bond. I'll have to check it out with some .45 Colt to.LOL! Those are some good comments there.
Nice picku! Beautiful and functional. I’m curious how the recoil is with full tilt loads.

Now you're talkin'!
I live in a rather low crime area as well. I keep a .38 on me most of the day but the shotgun is right by the bed. My brother in law lives with us (he's 15) and he has a 20 ga in case I'm not around he's able to handle the "situation"Me too. We live in a very low-crime area and have large dogs, so I'm okay with just keeping a handgun or two accessible. Otherwise it would be the Remington 870.
I literally bought a Maverick 88 about 2 weeks back. Good gun stock is too long though. Put 50 shells of buck through it to put it through some cycling action need to shoot the hell out of it though the action is very gritty. The Evangelist Cowboy
Don't want to cause too much thread drift but in addition to some strategically placed handguns (sorry but don't have any single actions in the mix), we also have a couple of go-to shotguns available in 12 and 20 gauge for home defense.

When did Ruger make a 454 Blackhawk, and is it a five shot?
I'd love to get into .475/.480 but .45 Colt is what I already had, so .454 is what I went to. I'm not fooling myself, I know I'll probably never visit Alaska or even Yellowstone, I'm just a recoil junkie have been ever since my first gun that i ever bought (.44 mag sbh when I was 19). I believe it is irresponsible to have children and not introduce them to firearms as young as possible my son is 5 and he has been taught about guns. We are getting him a .22 heritage revolver for his bday, of course it will stay in my safe. But when he is of an age (13-16 depending on the parents view and the kids maturity level) I see no reason why they cannot have their own firearm. I'd trust my Brother in law with a gun over most people at the local range anyhow.I am glad that I am not the only one who thinks teenagers can have their own defensive arms. Good show!
Nice Ruger! I have a .475 Blackhawk made by the BFR guy before the BFR hit the market.
Quite right. I saw it on gunblasts' YouTube channel and had to have it.They're a 5 shot, and my google Fu says 2015 is when they started making the super blackhawk in 454
