Pedersoli has a new percussion Howdah Pistol. We were just discussing Howdah Pistols the other day, in another thread. It's going to come in double .50, or combo shot and ball barrels (If I'm reading it right). Looks really nice. Unlike the Middlesex Village dbls, it looks like this has rifled barrels.

It must be brand new. I can't find any more info on it.

The shot barrels are 20 gauge smoothbores. The combo with a 20 gauge/.50 rifled would be a nice hunting gun. I'm kinda drawn to the double 20 myself. At handgun ranges, rifling doesn't make a heck of a lot of difference in accuracy, especially with the Howdah's rudimentary sights.

"I want one!"

Me too! I contacted Cherry's, and they told me the production run for this year is sold out, already, and they hadn't even gotten a price yet. Looks like you'll have to do some hunting. Most likely, you'll have to order one somewhere, and WAIT. Just don't order from Cabela's. They seem to want over MSRP for a lot of guns.

They wanted $35 over for a NAA Companion. They also want $850 for a Le Matt.

Amazing.
Another case of "And what was old is new again!"
My concern: That the BATFE might eventually rule this to be a Class III weapon.

The are "on the way" to dixie gunworks though actual date of arrival is not known. According to Pedersoli, the idea for these came from an "American Journalist" and the first actual shipments went to South Africa where a loop hole in the gun legislation allows the farmers to have muzzle loaders for hunting and snake protection.
Since none of the versions have rear sights, I'm inclined toward the smoothbore too. The rifled fifty might stabilize a REAL bullet and be accurate enough up close.

Good to know, mec. Unfortunately, Dixie won't ship a gun to NJ (or Canada). Pretty revolting that they put NJ in the same catagory as Canada. It's like we're not even part of the US. :fire:

the price on the Middlesex gun is sure affordable.!

now to figure out what I"d do with one.
hmmm.

ahh heck,I'll fiogure it out later.! :)

Those Middlesex guns are interesting, too. The double flintlock would come in handy the next time I go running around the neighborhood sporting pirate garb. Aarrrgh! :D

From the pictures, it looks like the Pedersoli might have a bit better quality finish. Judging from the price of their other guns, I'll bet this baby is going to be in the neighborhood of $500. I can't find any prices on the web, though.

PS- Make that AT LEAST $500.

Don't worry skippy, it is a MUZZLE LOADER they have no say. It will take congress and a new law.

I just have to get one, just purely on the grounds of sticking two fingers up at the powers that be, because they will hate it:evil:

I can't think of a better reason than that.
