New Jersey Sucks! What crap.

Wow. just wow.

And this guy is an elected official?

I won't even speculate on the IQ of his voters.

I believe in and support the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution which guarantees an American the right to bear arms. I myself have gone hunting. However, the weapons that were part of the ban are not the kind used for hunting. Why would anyone want to own weapons that are designed for war?
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
I don't see anything about hunting in there. Quit changing the subject.

from the article:
The assault weapons are able to fire hundreds of rounds per minute and can fire rounds farther than rifles and handguns.

(sarcasm) I didn't know that my AR could fire further than a bolt action .223 :banghead:

They should be punished for publishing blatant lies.

Is NJ a lost cause?, if it isn't totally a lost cause, they sure are working hard to make it one. Corrupt politicians are fearful of the people's right to keep and bear arms.

So, an SKS or an AK-xx in 7.62x39 can shoot farther than my turnbolt .30-06 ? ? ? ? ?

Not jolly likely, old chap.

More rounds per minute ? Sure, the SKS/AK can do that..but a shooter that is good with one of the .303 Brit SMLE's can put a lot of rounds downrange, too. Ask the WWII German Infantry guy about that.

I dont' know when was the last time I have seen so many pilot lights out at once...

Looks like everyone here ranked the article "1" out of 5!

This is obviously old news, but unfortunately this is the mentality of the masses in this state. NJ does not have the appropriate gun-culture so that when people read a "piece" like that, they understand it is written by an idiot who obviously knows nothing about guns.

If you ever read how our esteemed Governor Cody replied to the Second Amendment Sisters about 2nd rights and letting women protect themselves effectively you know what I'm talking about.

NH someday soon!

Tar and feathers were invented for people like him.

I am very glad to be a former resident of the Peoples Republic of New Jersey. Even though I didnt' move out because of guns, I'll never move back there just because of them (since, if I'd like to keep my >15-round magazines, I'd be subject to quite a fair amount of jail time, to say nothing of being able to carry).

The only voters in New Jersey are state employees and those under the thumb of the corrupt union leaders (70% of eligible voters don't vote). Gun owners there don't address the underlying issues and therefore don't take the "big picture" into account. Can't blame them, really - it'd be a long, hard road with no guarantee at the end.

Looks like old news.

No matter how deadly assault weapons are, they are completely incapable of penetrating the pomposity of an elected official behind a microphone.

Anyone else notice the article is nearly a year old??? THE SKY IS FALLING!!! THE SKY IS FALLING!!!

That was the first thing I noticed. It is still relevent though because that is still the prevailing attitude among those who care.

The loyal subjects of new jersey are in my opinion some of the most apathetic people I have ever encountered. They all complain but feel helpless to do anything to take back their freedom. They all have the "you can't guarantee a win so, I'm not even going to try" attitude that makes me crazy.

I have a friend in the PRNJ who owns a gun. It is currently in my safe because several months ago he was accused annonymously of beating his child. Even though the children and youth team came to his house that evening and verified that his son; 1/did not run away, 2/was not beat up, he still was under investigation for 2 months and finally had to get an attorney to back them off. They asked about guns in the house and he was afraid they would come back with a warrant to search. Problem is, that isn't paranoid in the PRNJ.

Even with all that experiende he is still a loyal Democrat who will vote whatever way he is told because "It's like this everywhere, isn't it?"

NJ is definitely a source of worry for me, living here, and owning firearms. I plan to move as soon as it's economically feasible. I won't subject my children to this state.

About 60 state level public offices were literally bought by a single union head, George Norcross, and they answer to him. He's a brilliant mastermind and has created a state that he personally runs from puppet strings and uses the hard working union labor for his own personal gain. The cost of buying all of these offices was paid for by overcharging 40% of the market rate for his labor. This 40% is snatched directly from the pockets of tax-payers. It's absolutely brilliant (in a very, very bad way).
There's a great series about his dishonor at www.courierpostonline.com where you can probably easily find it by doing a "George Norcross" search. The people in the state of New Jersey are of the classic "SHEEP" ilk repeating the EXACT same apathy and indifference that has created the very worst that history has to offer. An empowered public is the last thing they want. Any correlations in there to serious darkness? Yes, there is. :(
Added:
8% of the eligible voters are paid by the state, in some form. Add in their spouses and you get 16% voting Socialist, no matter what. Figure in a very conservative 50% of the eligible voters actually voting (althouth it's usually 30%) and you have 32% automatically voting Socialist. That doesn't even include the otherwise Democrat base. Not easy.

Even with all that experiende he is still a loyal Democrat who will vote whatever way he is told because "It's like this everywhere, isn't it?"

You've nailed a key element of the Jersery Problem.

They're like abused wives or kids, who don't know anything other than corruption, theft, and being held in contempt.

It's denizens (they mostly don't deserve the noble title "Citizen") have been steeped in the toxic air for so long they they literally don't know what freedom IS.

Jersey, California, Maryland, Massachusets, New York, Hawaii, and Connecticut.

Illinois came dangerously close this year, and we still have the veto session to get through in October.

An AWB is no longer a viable federal option, so it's started to become a real problem at the state level. Some states are obviously more at risk than others, of course.

why don't we see the tar and feathers anymore

Is that something that just isn't done now?

Would make good reading about a recent occurance..

Jersey, California, Maryland, Massachusets, New York, Hawaii, and Connecticut.

I thought there was restrictions on some features in these states, but not an outright ban on AR type rifles. New York for example. No flash supressor and limited mag cap but no ban on the gun itself.

The only ban that I know of that completely eliminates AR type rifles (with detachable mag) is California's. New York City (not NYS) also bans those. In New Jersey, one may own a rifle that complied with the Federal ban, unless it is on the "named" list (M1 Carbine, for example). ARs are quite popular here, but then again they're popular everywhere. Part of me thinks that the AWB helped that.

NJ's law banning assault weapons has been ruled to be unconstitutionally vague in some counties, so the Attorney General is enforcing it along the same guidelines as the Federal Ban.

The assault weapons are able to fire hundreds of rounds per minute and can fire rounds farther than rifles and handguns. The ammunition that are used with these assault weapons can pierce the bullet proof vests worn by police officers. FBI statistics show that one in every five officers killed in the line of duty was killed with one of these assault weapons.

What a bunch of lies.... It's obvious this guy doesn't know anything about guns. "Hundreds of rounds per minute"? That doesn't sound like your average AR-15 or AK-47 semi-auto. I'd be lucky if I were able to fire more than 70 rounds per minute from the AR-15 or the AK-47 that I own.

This guy doesn't know too much about ammo either and that one doesn't need an "Assault weapon" to fire armor piercing ammo.

A letter to the paper brought me the email address of the assemblyman. So, FWIW, I wrote him a pleasant email detailing his errors of fact.

Might do no good; doubt it would do harm...
