Anyone notice that thing's a Metalstorm?

Metalstorms are computer fired, which means they have firmware which can be
flashed...

I'd buy one of these simply for the hackability. IE, one tube full of rubber piezo-taser shock rounds (hey, this is teh fu+ur3 we're talking about) and three full of Golden Sabers, and the ability to fire all four barrels simultaneously, or unload the entire weapon at one twitch. I'd simply replace the firing logic with a simple "IF the trigger is pulled, THEN fire the next round in the queue" before trusting my life to a gun with a ctrl-alt-delete button.

Edit: Go look at the Cyberpunk 2020 (or 2030, the new book's soon to be published) definition of a smartgun. I give the Linux hackers six months to implement full smartgun functionality. :D

You know, that argument comes up a lot, but has there ever been any documented case in which someone sued a gun manufacturer because the gun didn't work when it was needed?

I was going to say...if that was the case, Intratec sure would have had a lot of lawsuits. :D

When, as and if this "Smart Gun", New Jersey variety is inflicted on the law abiding, and the thing "goes south" as the latest in electro-mechanical devices tend to do, causing or leading to the death or injury of a "good guy", who will be held responsible? Will there be ANYONE responsible? Who might it be that will be called upon to "make whole", the victim? Anyone have an idea?

I predict a disaster if the smart gun law becomes the law of the land in New Jersey. I say let'em have at it. The failures will be the only way for people to begin to understand. The most dangerous city in the nation, Camden, will become more so. The black market will grow exponentially. New Jersey's already a disaster and the gun issue is only the tip of the iceberg. It's the perfect place for those who don't care.

The only problem is that Liberal Blissninnies do not learn from their mistakes. There is already MOUNTAINS of evidence to prove their stupidity. Everything from the basic and most fundamental concept of criminals not following laws (duh!) to multi-million dollar research projects on the efficacy of gun laws. They all say the same things. Blissninnies and the politicians that whore to them are a disease in society.

You and me both. Just be glad you can do it from afar.

I count my blessings every day. But I used to live in Southeast PA, so I am very familiar with NJ and its politics. Having many sheeple, blissninny relatives in South Jersey, I know the mentality too well.
