I was in recovery from mil-surp addiction until I made the mistake of looking at the auctions. It is kinda like an alcoholic wandering into a bar just to see "what's going on". Big mistake.

I fell off the wagon and ended up wining a late model K-31 and an Argentine Engineers carbine. In my defense, I've been looking for an '09 Argentine Engineer's carbine for some time. They are relatively rare and usually in pretty rough shape compared to many of the long rifles.

The K-31? No excuses...I love the ones made in the late 50's, just before they ended production. It is nothing special, average condition, but a very late manufacture.

Here's the K-31:

Very nice K31. I too have fallen off the wagon. I just pruchased two K31 rifles. Both are 1941 vintage. The first one had a very interesting serial number so I had to get it. The second has the nicest tiger striped walnut stock. I'm looking for a beech stocked one now. Nice photography skills by the way

Even if you did fall off the wagon you did it in a very nice way. Congrats on the two new additions to your liquor cabinet.

Thanks, guys.

Quinn, I don't think you can go wrong with K31's. This one was relatively cheap ($230) and was made in the mid-late 50's just before the Swiss changed over to the STG 57 (would LOVE to glom one of them). The stock shows the usual dents and dings that you find on these and the metal is just average, but my experience with the late production examples of the K31's has been that the bores are as tight as a crab's a_ _...well you know.

Wish I could take credit for the pics, but they are from the auction site.

Bannock, thanks and lets all "drink up"

Did you pull the butt plate off the K-31 to see if the plastic tag with the name of the last soldier it was issued to, was there?

The one with the 666 serial number stamped on the barrel above the Swiss shield has a tag under the plate. The other with the tiger striped walnut didnt. Both rifles I got for $295 each. The K31 rifle has a nice heft to it. The sights are pretty nice too.
