Well I finally decided to get a new carry knife. I settled on the Glock 81 I have to say I'm impressed with the level of craftmanship and balance on a knife that cost $46 dollars, total with shipping. I got a couple things I like to do before I carry but it looks like this knife will do the tasks with ease. I added a photo I found on the web. It looks the same.

A wise choice! I have one I use as my primary knife when camping. Hard to get a good edge on it, and the tip gets dull easy. Otherwise, indestructible. The thickness comes in handy though. Stick it in to the wall of a deep creek bed, use it as a step out, lay down, pull it out, keep going. Hope it serves you well!

I don't understand. Wouldn't a "wise choice" be a knife that you could stick into the wall of a creek bed and use as a step that you could also get a good edge on and that the tip wouldn't get dull easily? Knives like that are out there, just not for $46. For $46 you should expect to be able to sharpen the thing and the tip hold up to use as a knife.

Can you carry fixed blades legally in most states?

Like most things, it will vary. Some states have restrictions on length, open carry or concealed, etc... Most have exemptions for outdoors type uses.

Mine has a sub 4" sharpened edge law for general carry. Concealed or open is fine.No blade length restriction while hunting, fishing, or trapping (only). Camping or hiking doesn't count.:(

I carry a concealed fixed blade everyday, have been doing so for over a year now.

...

for that money it is hard to beat.

But i got to agree ... it is not easy to sharpen.

I love mine.
( and have a master-sharpener do it for 5$ every year ... )
