Hello all.
When I finally got my concealed carry permit a few months back, I decided to get a nice holster for my Glock 30.... I ended up getting a Milt Sparks Versa Maxx II in black horsehide, and while it is a really nice well built piece (and super at making the Glock 30 disappear on your hip) It is just plain uncomfortable... I figured it might just take a little time to get used to it, but even after trying a size bigger pants, it still was just too uncomfortable for all day carry... I have come to the conclusion that a fully loaded Glock 30 is just too big and heavy for this type of carry (atleast for myself anyway).
So, I started doing a little research on other carry methods for the 30, and decided that I would try an open top pancake type holster.
I looked at a lot of leather holster (I love leather -- No kydex for me) websites, and finally ended up going with www.littlefeatherleather.com I found their ad in one of the gun mags, and while I couldn't find hardly any information online, I did run across THIS article written Roy Huntington about the business. The guy is a one man custom leather shop, and after speaking with him on the phone, I went ahead and placed an order for a open top pancake holster and a mag pouch. He's a super nice guy, and seems genuinely interested in making sure you get what you are wanting....
The package arrived this past Monday (about a 4 week wait - as stated per our phone conversation) and to say I'm thrilled would be a definite understatement!
I don't know much of the leather business lingo, but this holster is contoured to the pistol like a glove (the mag pouch is also formed to an exact fit --- you can even see the line at the top of the mag and that little indent about an inch down).
Today was the first opportunity I had to wear the new combo, and after wearing the whole works for about 12 hours, I can honestly say I got exactly what I have been wanting.... The holster and pouch's contour fit nice and close to the body (the Glock was easily concealed with an untucked long sleeve shirt) and the retention is great... This pistol fits nice and snug.
All in all, I am EXTREMELY pleased with the new set up, and can't recommend Little Feather Leather high enough.... I am already having visions of a nice western rig dancing through my head!
HERE IS A LINK to some pics of the new combo. If any of you have had dealings with this leather shop, I would love to hear your experiences, and if at all possible see pictures of your goods.
Thanks for looking!
