Hello all. I just found this forum. It's full of information! I have always been a auto guy, but picked up a Nickel 4" Colt Trooper from a friend. I love it. I ran across a S&W 642 Airweight a couple days ago and ended up buying it to. Looks to be a very nice pistol. I paid right $300 for the pistol, original case, and fobus paddel holster. It's in like new condition. I also got the original box of bullets with it which had 15 missing. Did I do alright on price?

Thanks again for the great resource!

Welcome and congratulations on your purchases. Wheel guns are addictive. The alloy pistols weren't meant for a lot of heavy shooting because of frame stretching or cracking. Great carry guns, though.

I know what you mean. I was at the gunshop this morning and a guy walked in with a Ruger 44mag. It was either a 6" or 8" model in all black. He had the gun, shoulder rig, and two speedloaders. He was asking $325 for it!

I was so close to buying it.

Welcome. Revolvers are my favorite. Still great functional self-defense and range pieces, plus class that few autos can match (maybe the BHP and 1911). Plus, they tend to be quite a bit less than comparable quality autos, and used you can find incredible bargains.

As for your guns, I am more of a S&W guy but that Trooper is going to be one heck of a gun. That is one of the Colt models that I would certainly consider picking up (even as a S&W guy) and one of the 3 or 4 most classic .357mags out there (the others being the Python, S&W 19, and S&W 27).

The 642 is probably the best deep concealment carry gun out there.

Good luck with the new (soon to be) addiction to revolvers.

Welcome. I would agree that you did just fine with regards to price on your 642.

[Obi-Wan] You've taken your first step into a larger world. [/Obi-Wan]

Congratulations on some nice choices. Can't go wrong with a nice wheelgun...that 642 in particular is one of the best carry pieces available.

Thanks for the votes of confidence. I can't legally carry in Kansas, until we get a new govener! But, I'm thinking of going the Florida route since I travel to Missouri, Arkansas, and Oklahoma from time to time.

congrats on the purchases, i think you did well and will be very pleased. (my dad has the same Trooper you just bought. it has been his favorite for MANY years, and is HIGHLY coveted by me :)) i also have a S&w m637 (exxposed hammer, airweight 38 spl) and i love it. welcome to the forums and enjoy both them and your new guns.

It gets through the house and senate, but the Gov. vetos it. So, I'm guessing we will have to wait until the new gov. comes into office.
