What would you think of a Smith&Wesson bringing back the model 547 revolver in 9m.m. with 3 inch heavy barrel (like the model 13) and aluminum or scandium frame like the model 12?

I think this would be a great carry gun. It would still be light at 21 or 22 ounces and have plenty of stopping power when using 9m.m.+P.

I would really like to see a new model 12 or lightweight version of the 547. Am I the only one?

Jim

Nobody has ever bought enough 9mm revolvers to keep the manufacturers interested. Two S&Ws, two Rugers, a Taurus that hardly saw the light of day. None in production any more.

Order a thousand and they might get interested enough to get the 547 patent rimless extractor parts and tooling out of storage. Order 500 and they might make them up for clips.
They have been burnt on the 9mm revolver gimmick before and are not likely to build more without money in hand.

I have a 4" model 547 with heavy barrel. The 3" HB does intrigue me though as long as it does not have that infernal lock. BTW they were originally made in both 3" and 4" barrels. The only other difference between the two I believ is that the 3" had a round butt grip and the 4" had a square butt grip.
