I think I just got one heck of a deal. My 5 year old son has been bugging me to go look at guns, and as he is out of school for Christmas, seemed like a good excuse to visit my favorite gun shop. After looking around for a bit, came across a Winchester 67a. Decent wood, VERY light rust on the barrel, but a lot of rust on the bolt, and there was literally a spider living inside the barrel. The rust on the bolt looked like there may be a lot of it, but I didn't think it was very deep, and after evicting said spider from his place of residence, the rifling looked really good. Tag on the rifle said $69.95,so it came home with me.Can't go wrong for 70 bucks, right?
Get her home, and disassemble the bolt and go to work at it with some oil and steel wool. The thing cleaned up and looks like brand new.Ran a few patches through the barrel, and the bore is nice and shiny, with really sharp rifling.Tomorrow the outside of the barrel will get the same treatment, and I'm thinking about stripping the stock and refinishing it. Looks like it may have some nice grain under all the grime. Soon as I figure out how, I'll post some pics. Wish I had took some before I cleaned up the bolt.I'll update as I get further along.
