Hello,

These pare pictures of my roller trigger prototype. I'm confident it operates in public domain (as does everything I make!) due to the Finns' use of something very, very similar on the M39.

True Drop-in Fit
This prototype trigger follows in the tradition of the Finnish M39 pinned trigger. The differences are that the Finnish trigger does not have the overtravel screw and is two-stage.

The production trigger will not have such an obvious relief, but a small one will remain to eliminate sear pre-load.

This one is single-stage and will shorten takeup and overtravel. It will also very noticeably reduce the gritty feel of the trigger that is present regardless of the amount of polishing done. An 8lb trigger pull feels like a 5lb trigger pull using this.

I like the way the people of this board give frank and honest opinions.

I currently do have one of these, not so fancy and closer to the actual production model, in my rifle and it is very smooooooooooooooooth with a crisp letoff. Measured weight is 5lbs exactly.

Do you suppose there would be interest in this? I looked at the (patented) competition I would have, Timney and Huber, and both are almost twice what I could do one of these for. They run something like $88 to a little over $100 while I will be doing this for $30 to $50, and I provide the trigger.

Input is welcome.

Thanks!

Josh

I like the idea. For the money, I think you could do quite a bit of business if the user reviews are positive. Most people can't justify spending more for an upgraded trigger than what the gun is worth. I hope it turns out well. I have two 91/30s that could use such a thing.

Hmm, well there will be some buyers without a doubt. I'm cheap I guess as even $30-$50 would be a hard sell (my 91/30 cost me $49 and M44 $79). Besides, I keep all my milsurp stock with perhaps the exception of refinishing beat-up furniture. I doubt I'm alone there.

Again, you'll have some business... but you'll have to have stellar reviews to get anywhere with it (IMO).

It would have to be cheap since we're talking about a $100 gun. For me, the Mosin trigger can be made pretty good with just a careful polish job so I wouldn't be likely to spend anything else on it.

I have a PU with a less-than-great trigger pull and I would definitely try one. I tried a Finn trigger and wasn't happy with the result.
Make 'em!

Hello,

My only hesitation is all the litigation these days!

The one that will be for sale will be single roller like this prototype, but won't have an overtravel screw. It's not needed and will just add complexity and cost, and removal of the bolt will be a pain.

This one is for sale on the invitation-only part of my website.

Went ahead and ordered ONE trigger for production next week. I really don't want to go with more at this point because it means I'd have to dig into the sights fund, and I need that for the sights.

Unlike the sights, though, this will be more of a production job than a custom job. The sights are built when they're ordered; I plan to keep five or so triggers in stock, building them as sights allow me to.

Thanks,

Josh
