Bought a NIB Norinco 1911A1 today. The box and the foam are cheesy but the pistol is un-fired.
Got the brush, cleaning rod and extra mag.(still unwrapped),but no paperwork.
Serial # 419***:D

Nice! I keep telling myself I'll buy one, but the last guy I saw who had one wanted too much for it and it had already been modified.

Norincos-I sure do not know how you guys find so many. Tuner has worked on 88 he has posted. but he is a professional. I do not play Golf but I do travel arround the country going to Pawn Shops, Gun Shops and Ranges and have only seen a few. Recently I spent a month in NC, a week in Michigan, 2 weeks in the Phoenix AZ area and 10 days in Florida. No Norincos. I did however buy from a Pawn Shop a made in Belgium BAR Browning 30-06 which I am working on.

I have bought a Norinco here in MD which I am redoing from my spare parts drawer. I plan on using the Norinco barrel which I have already tuned up and fited a new bushing. Sight cuts are done for a diamond ghost ring and front lime green fiber optic sight like on my series 70. My plate is pretty full until after the Shot Show but I will post pictures when I finish things. I have never used Duracoat and may try a paint finish as a range friend has started doing it. He is an amatuer like me but has the equipment and uses his wifes oven. We have fun. I like black guns.

:p I usually see at least one Norinco at the shows here in the Tidewater area and in Richmond. The NIB one has been gathering dust for most of this year. Norincos are greatly under-appreciated and misunderstood, though.

And the biggest sellers at the shows are the whiz-bang, hi-cap wundernines.

A lot of people respect Tuner, so when he asks for help, like with the Norincos, he gets it.

LOL...Around here it was mostly because a lotta the guys owed me a favor, bro...:p

Dean...You ain't gonna find many in pawnshops and gun stores. The dealers around here sold a blue million of the things back in the day, and they rarely get one back in. Appears that the buyers are either hangin' on to'em or they're tradin' outside the loop.

I'm up to #89 now...and I bought that one...and if Ken and his lovely wife make the trip up here soon, it'll be 90. If Ted(aka The Duke of Nork) keeps findin'em, I might be able to get to an even hundred by late spring.

Joe...I picked up a satin nickel Combat Commander the other day...one without the Lawyer Parts. Decent...with a few character marks. Typical late 70s/early 80s production gun....could be better, but could be a lot worse.

I haven't actually worked on all the guns...only about 10 or 12 of'em. Mostly it was detail-strip, clean, examine, and take a few measurements. One of my others will be goin' under the hammer and files this comin' week. It's got just a wee bit too much vertical play in the frame/slide fit to suit me, and I've put it off too long.

Duke of Nork

Hey Tuner....I'm down to only three Norks now and the way prices have climbed I doubt I'll be buying any more unless I find something in the $350 and under range. Been piddling with the sights on my shooter 1991A1 with the Springfield barrel but just can't seem to get them sorted out.
Thinking I might take out the NIB 1991A1 and see how it shoots. If it suits me better I can move the Colt/Springer on. Gotta concentrate on just one Nork and one Colt and quit messing with a bunch of em. If I could find someone (Tuner?, Kartracer?) with some guns to sell I'd like to rent a table at the spring show at Greensboro. I don't have enough stuff to fill one table.
I don't collect much, just like to get em, shoot em, and move em on.

My first 1911 was a Nork I bought for about $300 at a gunshop. Within a week I found another at a Pawn shop for $250.
Both were in excellant condition, on appeared to be unfired, one had one of those buffers in it. I don;t know how long they are supposed to last but it was absolutly shredded.
About a year later I found one for $225 that was well used and uncared for. I planned to do a build up on that one , but lost my job so it's in a shoe box now.( I haven't forgotten that the leftover parts were promised to Tuner)
On the way home I found one that was "customized" for $175. I passed on it but probably shouldn't have.

During that time I worked pest control and one of my customers was ten Cash America pawn shops and a couple of mom and pops.

I still have a relationship with some one those shops and have requested that they call me if they come across anything Nork if I can't use it I will know someone that can and past performance shows them that I calling me is a guarranteed sell at Blue Book prices

They don't call me much

Norks

When I can make it up to Tuner's new home,I plan to bring 4 Norks for him to look at.
I would like to spend at least a week and bring a lot of ammo and hang around with Tuner and help him anyway needed around the place.
Expert Electrician---fair mechanic----even work with the pups:D

P.S.

Anyone have an older Norinco manual that they would part with? :
My new one didn't have a manual in the box.
As it is NIB,it would be nice to have the manual with it.
I don't plan to shoot it anytime soon(maybe never) and it would be a nice pkg. to leave to one of the Grandkids.:D

Come on up!

Ken...Ted...Joe...I get the distinct feelin' that Dean just flat don't believe that we've got all these Norks in North Cackalackey.:scrutiny:

Should we invite him to a 'Rinco Roundup? If I've got a week's notice, I can prob'ly arrange for about 2 dozen to show up my own bad self if I post a notice down at the ol' range.;)

But can you cook and make coffee? ;)

Get Dean Down to NC

having spent 30 years or so in Md, I feel a need to help out a good ole Marylander, so lets get him down to play with some Norks. And for heavens sake let me make the coffee.....if its more than a 1/2 hour old; its old! :cuss:

And Joe can bring his Micro. Hey Joe, doe that new Colt shoot or what? Haven't had a report on it.

After the Shot Show I would like to come "down" to NC. Last fall I spent 5 weeks in NC. as previously posted. I will bring my Norinco what ever stage it is in but finished I hope. I also will try to take some pics of my Norinco barrel and post them. I will also post pics of my .400 Corbon barrel with it. I am sure Tunner knows what I do as taught by Dave Sample in his online class.

By the way Tuner my last year invitation to buy you lunch or dinner at the Shot Show still stands Shot Show 2006 the first part of Feb.

S.H.O.T

'Fraid I don't get around much anymore, Doc. Too many chores around here...what with 12 dogs and all. Bad back won't let me travel far by car/truck, and Vegas is a little out of my range.

If you made the Charlotte show, you were within 60 miles of me...and if
you did Lexington...about 3 miles if you came in on I-85. Remember passing the Old US-64 exit?

I'd like to see the before and after pix of that barrel, sho' nuff.

UL, I'm all for going shooting. My wife is having the surgery tomorrow and it's been kinda hectic getting everything in shape around the house, especially with the holidays.I haven't even got to shoot the colt yet-I'm gonna have to come visit soon and we'll shoot it.Did build a reloading bench, now I just have to get the rest of the reloading stuff. Joe

Kartracer: give me a ring soon and we can tear up some more paper. Forgot I have several bowling pins we can shoot (at). Depending on what gun we're using.

Pins

ulflyer, some guy brought about 10 boxes of pins to our range and dropped them off.
Now there are pins hanging everywhere down range.
