Ok guys, I know there are plenty of SKS fans here and would like to learn a thing or two from you. I just picked one up at a yard sale. It is a Norinco SKS imported through KSI Pomona CA. Serial # is 2300XXX p. It has no Bayonet or cleaning rod. I have a Chinese Bayonet that I have had years and bet I can find a cleaning rod. The guns #'s match and it has not been fired much at all, as it shows practically no wear and it still has grease in most out of the way places.
Can I put a bayonet on the gun or is there a ban on that? I have no idea. Also what's the thing worth as I guess Norinco's are no longer imported and I have no use for it but to sell or trade. It has a 10 round magazine, matching #, but came with a couple of 20 round clips USA made what are they worth or are they legal either?
Thanks.

It depends when it was imported. If it came into the country after 1989 then an executive order bans you putting on the bayonet unless you switch out a bunch of parts. Of course to the BATF the proof of evidence is on you to provide evidence of when it was imported, and since its unlikely you can do that since the BATF doesn't even keep a list of importers let alone serial numbers and records you are out of luck right now.

The only was you can pass the 922(r) standard would be to replace parts so it has 10 or less recognised foreign parts and thereby be classed as a domestic weapon. You can find lots of stuff on that if you search the forum.
