I just picked up a new SKB O/U 505 field 12GA with 28in. barrels from a great gun shop in Buffalo, WY, The Sports Lure. I traded my 2 revolvers plus a little cash. I felt I got a fair deal on the revolver trade and shotgun, and want to give them a thumbs up. This will be my pheasant, turkey, grouse gun. Can I use this shotgun to get introduced to clays?

Yes, you can start into clays with this O/U. But remember, a field gun shoots point of aim, so you will need to cover the clay. For trap, a dedicated trap gun shoots above POA, so that you can see the clay when you pull the trigger. Sporting clays and skeet should be fine,, but it will be a hindrance with trap. Excellent choice of shotgun though, SKB makes some fine arms. Enjoy.

Thanks Tiny for the info, and making the distinction between trap and clay shooting. This will be a whole new endeavor for me. Maybe Trap will be something down the road, but I think I'll have a good share to learn with Clays and skeet.
