I recently bought a 1963 Browning Auto-5 and got out to shoot it today for the first time. When I got it the rings were set "light" and I rearranged to "heavy" just to see what it would do. (always heard it's best to start on heavy)

It ran flawlessly with an assortment of Federal and Winchesters 2 3/4"...from #8's down to 00 buckshot. Finally tried some old Remington Slugger loads and the shells were hangingin the ejection port.....looked closely and the Remington spent hulls were 1/8" of so longer than the other brands!

I didn't have any other Remington loads on me, so I am still wondering if that is just a Remington thing...or maybe a slug thing.

had a lot of fun with the old Browning, regardless! Never had to move it to the light setting.

I don't know about the lenght of new shells, but I had the same problem in the mid 60's when the plastic hulls first came onto the market. The shotguns of the day had an ejection port that was too short for the new hulls. Especially the Remington ammo. I had to go thru several brands to find one that would cycle consistently thru my 37 Ithaca and Model 12 Win.
