I know it's a bassackwards question but I got a crazy deal on a Trijicon 3x ACOG with a 7.62x39 BDC. Good enough deal that I figured I'd just try it out and can sell it if it doesn't work for me. I have no intention of buying anything in that caliber btw.
So, I have a Ruger Gunsite Scout .308 with full rail (I don't like scout scopes), an Armalite AR-10, a Sig 556 pistol and an AR15. I'd like to try the scope out on what's most likely to work and would like your thoughts. I'm thinking the AR or Sig but it seems too much scope for the Sig.

If you say don't bother, that's fine too. Don't give me too much crap, I did say on the front end that it was weird!
Cheers, John

I think that would be a lot of magnification on a "pistol". I would go with either the AR10 or the RGS, whichever isn't scoped at the moment. If it works good, leave it. If it doesn't, try the other.

If an ACOG is something you really want, I'd leave it NIB and try to sell it for a bit under retail. Take your profit and buy the ACOG you actually want (as opposed to 7.62x39 BDC).

The bullet drops of 308 and 7.62X39 are a lot closer than most people think. The trajectories are close enough, especially with the shorter 308 barrel. The 308 will just hit harder at range.

If you put it on there you may find that the markings for 7.62X39 at 200 yards will actually be 225 ish for the 308 etc. I bet you can make it work.

Thanks everyone. I'm going to try it out on the AR10 and the Scout. The ACOG will be out of the box for about 20 rounds and if I don't like it, I bet I can get what I paid for it or slightly more. Appreciate the help!
