Need we say more!! None other than America’s most trusted no-spin cable TV and radio host Bill O’Reilly said at the end of his broadcast yesterday that the only true winners in the Hurricane Katrina/New Orleans fiasco is the NRA. O’Reilly has been preaching that Government (including police) can not protect YOU when you need it most, and that only those with firearms stood any chance of protecting themselves in that hell hole. O’Reilly even went on to speculate that the question of 2’nd Amendment rights applying to all private citizens is a done deal now for our lifetimes.

If he’s right, perhaps there was a silver lining in the flood storms. We all may owe a great debt of gratitude to those fine young two-legged animals who brought terror and anarchy to New Orleans.

Unfortunately not everyone listens to O'reiley and other than us gun nuts, the rest of the population will forget this lesson very quickly. In one ear, out the other.

I don't think so. They're going door to door confiscating people's guns as we speak.

The NRA may win, yet, if it challenges the current confiscation hard and fast.

Near as I can tell, the decision to confiscate was made by a local guy. Not the Feds. So there could easily be a suit here, for the locals violating the Constitution.

This is my most fervent hope. I'm refusing to get riled up about what is happening until we know what is happening. I've heard too many rumors about what is being done, how it is being done, and the legal authority under which it is being done to rant properly. Unless there is some indication of this spreading nation-wide immediately, I think we're all better served by watching this play out, taking copious notes, and then getting a solid victory in court. If that happens, it could be a stunning victory for RKBA.

If it doesn't, it will be a stunning defeat. :(

Mike

The NRA better be all over this one...no more "monitoring the situation" - I want to see them screaming on the Hill and kicking some a$$.

What's up with that video of the police officer kicking in the door with his M4gery pointed inside? They do that in my neck of the woods they'll be something pointing back... :cuss:

The only thing the NRA going to do is send you a letter telling you whats happening and to SEND more MONEY!!! I have decided the the NRA is our Jessie Jackson makes noise and wants money their really no difference.

The only possible bright side I can even remotely see in all of this New Orleans trainwreck is the hope that it will develop into a bulletproof, slamdunk 2nd Amend case to send to the Supreme Court.

Nra??????

IMO the NRA (which is supposed to be you and I!) is very much like FEMA, a day late and a dollar short. Every gun forum has the question "where is the NRA?" Well, WHERE?

^ That guy's my new hero. I'm glad somebody's standing up for his rights.
What guy is that? O'Reilly?

Hmm... From the video, "Officers from all over the country" are in NOLA forcibly evacuating people from their homes and confiscating their guns (if they have them).

I hope O'Reilly is right.

Don't bet on any good coming from this event for the Second Amendment. Don't you imagine that the gun-grabbers see the guns in the aftermath of the N.O. disaster as good press for their cause?

On Thursday, in the city's well-to-do Lower Garden District, a neighborhood with many antebellum mansions, members of the Oklahoma National Guard seized weapons from the inhabitants of one home. Those who were armed were handcuffed and briefly detained before being let go.

"No one will be able to be armed. We are going to take all the weapons," Riley said.

See? Guns are just used by the well-to-do in their mansions to keep down the poor family man looking for a meal for his baby. :barf:

NRA who??? :scrutiny:  :uhoh:

Yeah, I know who they are, but I don't see them doing anything except like MICHAEL T said:

The only thing the NRA going to do is send you a letter telling you whats happening and to SEND more MONEY!!! I have decided the the NRA is our Jessie Jackson makes noise and wants money their really no difference.

Im going to have to agree with Coronach. Seems like some of you are inferring we take up arms and go fight with the "JBTs" in NO...

I think as soon as we get good intel and the courts can reopen and get on their feet in the area, we will see some positive results in our favor.

it depends on what the nra does about this confiscation deal. if they do nothing but beg for more money(which they are good at), they'll lose the wife and i as members. to make up for our leaving wayne lapierre can donate. wonder how much he makes a year?

The BIB WINNER will be the lawyer or law firm that files the first lawsuit against the mayor of NO, the NO PD, the governor of LA, FEMA and the Federal government.

Watch this video
That video made me sick to my stomach.

"We're only trying to help you." As they slam that grandma to the floor.

Did you notice they took her gun by force, and kept it?

God forbid.

The NRA may win, yet, if it challenges the current confiscation hard and fast.

Not to damn likely!!!

This is the lead headline on their web page!!!

NRA Awards Outstanding Youths
$7,500 in Scholarships

You have to delve deeper within the abyss to discover anything about the confiscations!!!! :uhoh: :scrutiny:

NRA-ILA Comments On Situation In New Orleans

Friday, September 09, 2005

Numerous media sources are reporting on a campaign by New Orleans city authorities to confiscate lawfully-owned firearms from people in the city. Louisiana statute does grant the government, during a state of emergency, broad powers in regulating and controlling firearms.

However, we have seen not just with Hurricane Katrina, but other similar situations, that when police are unable to control the criminal element, people turn to the one freedom that protects all others--the Second Amendment.

While one can certainly understand the dire predicaments of all those affected by Hurricane Katrina, as we have learned throughout history, campaigns to disarm the lawful do nothing to disarm the criminal. And in truth, these restrictions make citizens less safe. Despite the valiant efforts of many law enforcement officers and rescue workers, too many of those left in the wake of Katrina are ultimately responsible for their own security and safety and that of their families and loved ones. This is especially true when communication is virtually non-existent and police can't be quickly summoned to respond to calls for help. At these times, lawful gun ownership is paramount to personal safety.

Of course, the entire situation in New Orleans is constantly in flux. But rest assured NRA is monitoring this situation very closely and will address any activity by the government that unduly infringes upon the rights of lawful gun owners at the appropriate time. As we learn more, we will report to our members accordingly. In the interim, however, we join with all Americans in offering our thoughts, prayers, and assistance to the victims and survivors of this terrible natural disaster.

Same old wishy washy NRA!!! :banghead:

I'm gunna take my money ($20) and and join JPFO!!!!! :D

I knew there was a reason why I didn't renew!!!
