New police firearms unit confiscates hundreds of guns

The story DOESN'T say anything like "police obtained a valid warrant" or "police served a valid warrant."

That's the beauty of being a cop--it doesn't matter! They're not charing him with anything because they have nothing on him. So the warrant issue is moot. OTOH they can throw red tape in his way to both prevent him from getting his firearms back and to mark him as a mental patient unable to obtain firearms in the future. The laws on the books today, esp. back east, offer more than enough room for creative anti-gun cops to disarm the sheeple. They've done it in NYC, after all.

There was a news article released after capture of "the sniper" where officials stated their intention to form a special goon squad errrr Fruedian slip... Gun squad to investigate all the sniper tips. They had some rediculously huge number of names. Enough to provide permanant never ending job security. I'm pretty sure I posted a link to it. Must have been on a different message board? Anyhow, my guess is that if you live in Maryland expect a visit during your lifetime.

Project exile offers rewards for tips on unlicensed gun owners. I think it's only $200 in Maryland. The big money is in Illannoy where you can get $1000. They take their contraband owners seriously there! Just think, you could pay off a whole month of bills just for turning in a freind or relative!

Hi Comrade!

When the so-called "sniper" shootings were taking place I remember seeing the evening news on WJZ-Channel 13 in Baltimore and they were asking people to call in on people who "might" have weapons!!! (These jerks are no more a sniper than I am a rocket scientist!)

This clowns wanted the general public to become snitches!

Also, the JBT's ,Oops I meant PO-lice were doing ballistic checks on rifles that were "found" via "the leetle yaller form 4473" !! The ___________ were going to different FFL dealers and getting "paperwork" on "assault" weapons! (insert favorite word in the blank)

There was a looooooog thread on TFL about "5000" rifles being turned in to law enforcement in Maryland during the cowardly attacks! I can't find the thread any longer or I would have posted a link and the originator.

The 5000 rifles was not a misprint either! I do recall a warning posted on the thread about turning your weapon in WITHOUT a RECEIPT ! If you don't have PROOF you gave it to "them"(,you know, the NICE guys with badges ) consider YOUR weapon a DONATION to their department!

If I could afford to live elsewhere I would leave the Socialist state of Maryland!

Enjoy Comrades!

Do Svidaniya!

I'll be the voice of dissent on this one. The guy might be, or might not be, a wacko. There is too little info available in that article for me to make that call. If he does have a long history of threatening neighbors and other folks, and is a paranoid personality, living in his "fortress" - then I have no problem with them disarming him...at least for awhile. He should certainly have the right to seek evaluation and treatment...and perhaps get his guns back if not adjudicated as mentally ill. I believe that the occasional wacko going off and shooting up the world is far more harmful to lawful gun ownership than Maryland LEO's. Owning a gun doesn't make someone my brother - Charlie Manson owned guns...so what...fry him. There are bad people who own guns. Every gun board comment I've read about the Columbine shooters (or any other nutcase shooter) who had a history of menta illness and violence, asks why the lunatics weren't stopped before they committed their crimes, '"Where were the cops when they were threatening this or that...". This story could be an example of something that worked out right for a change - I don't know. As I said, there is too little information to make that call. If someone can provide information that this guy was a normal person who simply collected guns, and has been unfairly set up by the JBT's, I'd love to read it. Concerning the rest of the article, I'd have to say that the cases seem fairly legit.. on the surface anyway. I have ZERO sympathy for straw purchasers who knowingly sell guns (at a huge mark-up) to those who can't purchase them legally...and particularly to known criminals.

The last line in the WTOP story "we are not going to take guns from hunters." :barf: :barf: :barf:

That fact that this was rehashed is really bad news. It is shameful.

But why just run it once when you can run it twice and have twice the exposure. Maybe we can have the Maryland gun whacko anniversary newspaper filler day every April.

The original story stated:
In a bunker-like room in the basement, they found kegs holding eight pounds of black gunpowder.
In the second story it stated:
In a house choked with piled-up garbage, police also found eight pounds of black powder stashed in a refrigerator.
Oh, my God, I've got one of those "bunker-like rooms" in my kitchen! :what:

Am I in trouble? Am I gonna go to jail?
