I think I might be getting into a new addiction :uhoh:

I went to a gun show this past weekend and there she was.
I've been busy collecting mostly S&W wheelies but I've been looking to add the right Colt DS to my collection of snubbies. I wanted something clean, but not something that I wouldn't want to shoot because it was unfired or "too nice to shoot".

I ran across this Colt Cobra that fit my bill. It looks like its had very few rounds through it and it probably never saw any time in a holster or a pocket. The finish is absolutely beautiful and the checkering on the grips is perfect. The last three numbers of the serial number are hand written on the inside of the grips. The serial number is from 1967.

I put 24 rounds through her last night and I can't believe how nice she shoots and how good the trigger is.
I know that there will be more of these little ponys joining this one in my safe ;)
(The gun looks much in person better than my pictures)

Pretty Colt! What kind of ammunition are you using? I regularly tote a'66 Cobra concealed and load it with Hornady "Custom" 158 grain "JHP/XTP", mainly because the poi/poa relationship @ 25 yards (benched) is dead-on. 148 grain Fiocchi JHPs are also pretty good, also @ 25 yards. I found Buffalo Bore 125 grain "Speer Low Vel. JHC" to shoot a little low for me at that range.

Where I'm at, non-plus P .38 Special ammunition is hard to come by and I generally have to order non-hardball stuff via catalog sales.

I'm not going to carry her. She's too pretty to get beat up and I'd rather carry something rated for +P ammo.
I carry a S&W 642 every weekday and sometimes as a BUG on weekends.
I thinking of looking at a 3rd design Colt DS. I like the idea of having and extra round.

I just peed in my pants a little when I saw those pictures. Can I come live in your safe? I promise to clean up after myself.

Very nice!!! You found a real gem.

The Cobra's are addictive. I have a pair of them - one blue, one nickel - both made in 1974. They are the first guns I reach for when going to the store or walking the dog.

Nice Find

Indeed, the old Colt D-frames from yester year bring back very fond
memories. I collect 2nd series (1947-1972) Colt Detective Specials
myself; and your Cobra would have made a nice addition too my own
collection. My 1971 factory nickel Colt DS has only been test fired a
total of six times~! I don't tote it, or my 2X 1966 blued Colt DS's;
instead opting to carry a S&W 442/642 concealed. Congrats of the
find, and enjoy~! :D ;)
