I won't need that. I always hit what I'm aiming at. :neener:
 
I have put a few hundred rounds through mine without shooting it. If you are using it to build up loads and only shoot 30 or 40 when you go out, just make sure you pay really close attention to those 30 or 40.

Of course i only take readings 10 - 15 feet from the muzzle I guess if you are trying to take reading a 100 yards out it might be a different story.

Agree with drg. Had mine about a year with a couple thousand rounds over it, I only measure muzzle velocity at 10 feet or so, so If I can't see shadowing in the scope, I figure I am not going to hit it.

BUT, I agree it is probably only a matter of time.

it's a Pro Chrono Digital - please respect the fact that it's in a class of it's own... :D

I will admit I hit one of the diffuser rods on my Pro Chrono once when firing my Keltec P11- that gun has a bit of a nasty kick along with a 7lb DA trigger and I flinched on one of shots in the string I was measuring. Never again...

ALWAYS set up a target centered on the 'sweetspot' for your 'chrono' and ALWAYS use it.

Avoid using it at all when Chrono season opens.

I'm smarter... I keep in my range bag an extra chrono! :p
 
I read this tip someplace:

Replace the diffuser rods w/ wooden dowels. There's a size that is almost exactly what the rods are (I have the ProChrono too), maybe a tiny bit of sanding to get them to fit (mostly mine did w/ no sanding, but a little touch helped one). Measure the rod and take your calipers when you shop for them. :)

If you shoot one, you just take out a wooden dowel, not a metal rod which can take down the entire unit.

I've got a couple extra wooden dowels with mine just in case...: )

I don't get it, you guys are still making it sound like I'm gonna shoot my unit. I've told ya's, there's no way that's gonna happen. :uhoh:
