Hi all I am getting ready to order my....RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme Single Stage Press Master Kit.......I currently have a stockpile of unfired factory ammo in .38 special, .357mag, .45acp, 9mm......My question is since am planning on reloading I already will have the brass, so I just need primers, bullets, and powder.....among other things that go along w/ reloading.....were is the best place to start looking for those needs in bulk.....in order to begin saving money who would have the best prices? Also I will need to purchase dies in those calibers which would ya'll recommend and from where? I appreciated any help thank you.

Cabelas, Midway, Bass Pro for supplies. I would highly recommend carbide dies for handgun reloading, RCBS, Hornady, etc.

Dan

Places for supplies: Midway, Graf's
Dies: (1) Redding and Hornady; (2) RCBS and Lee
Get The ABCs of Reloading and then a couple of manuals. Lyman's 49th is a good start.

For carbide dies don't overlook Lee. They work great for less money.

All the bullets you mentioned are available from Montana Gold. If you are looking for "bulk" they are a great source. Prices are delivered to your door via USPS.

Their best prices are for case quantities.

I get all my tools - dies and other equipment - from MidwayUSA. I know there are cheaper places, etc. I just do. Been doing business with them since the mid-90's, back before they were online. I get a lot of my bulk bullet components through them, too.

Powder and primers? I get those locally. I'm sure I could save up and place an order through Powder Valley in a quantity large enough to offset the HAZMAT fee. But I don't. I give that money to my local gun shop, just so he doesn't decide to drop powder and primers from his inventory. It's nice to be able to walk into a shop and pay $20.00 for a pound of something to experiment with, and not pay $50.00 for the same thing to come shipped UPS.

By the way, I love Lee carbide pistol dies. Great value, and they plain work.

Midway has a sale on RCBS 3 die Carbide handgun sets right now. All of the calibers you listed are $5 off. I suggest you not go too hog wild with buying anything in bulk(except for maybe primers) till you find what works well for you. Midway runs special on bullets every once in a while(I believe they have remmie bulk 9mm on sale right now) so I stock up when they have what I want on sale. Otherwise there's a myriad of places to buy bulk bullets online, whether they be jacketed, plated or cast. I too buy my powders and primers locally. My LGS sells for just a hair over what I can buy it for online without the hazmat.

Thanks..

lots of great suggestions.....thank ya'll.....I will buy the powder/primer local....also i'll go with the lee carbide dies since they are on sale and I havent heard bad about them yet.....

lee dies are fine.
sounds like you will be reloading mostly handgun ammo, and if so, I can't recommend enough that you bail on the single stage press and get a turret, start with 1 or 2 calibers (probably 357 and 45 acp as they will save you the most money)

if you order from midway, use a coupon code. if you buy at cabelas there is probably a coupon code for there too. $10-20 off 100 or 150 is not uncommon. Mcbrides will probably be the most helpful store around.

I'm over in burnet and have nothing to do this weekend. If you want to wander over I can give you a tutorial. (I have access to a free range too)

Start single stage and get a Hornady LNL bushing kit. I added it to my Rockchucker and loved it so much I bought a Hornady LNL progressive. Love it.

As for online dealers, shop around and try some never heard of's out there on Google shopping. Shipping is usually cheaper. I buy a lot of Midway and use Gunbroker. Always been happy. Even eBay works for a lot of items, even though most gunnies despise it. I'm a business guy, if I get my parts and they work, meh, they work. My bottom line is money spent.

Be sure to buy a good reloading manual or two and read them. Also, I'd take up the offer from greyling22 as nothing is better than having an experienced reloader show you how it's done.
