I just bought a new Ruger 10/22 yesterday from Wal-Mart. They had one with a beautiful fit and finish on it, and I can't even find it on Ruger's website. Its a 22" stainless steel barrel with a wood (not laminate) stock. Also, there is no metal ring around the barrel/stock on the front. I think its awesome (although I haven't shot it yet). I picked up a couple factory 10-shot mags and I will get a chance to shoot it maybe this weekend. I don't know why anyone would want to customize, when its such a nice looking gun (assuming it shoots worth a darn). I also bought a Nikon Prostaff 4x32 scope that seems to look pretty good . It was $100 and the rifle was $236. I am VERY happy with the purchase.

Is this a Wal-Mart exclusive? Anyone have any experience with Nikon or this scope specifically?

Thanks!!

They have made the wallyworld model for a long time. It is a nice gun. Goto rimfire central and search the guys there like em....

Some WalMarts have quit carrying guns, but I think you may be able to special order them still via the sporting goods dept.

Noidster

That's the 10/22 rifle. As I recall it was a walmart exclusive. I don't know if they're still making them.

Interesting. I was looking at 10/22's a couple years ago, and the choices seemed to be "wood stock + blued barrel" or "black synth stock + stainless barrel." I remember telling the store owner that if they had a "wood stock + stainless barrel", I would definitely have bought it. It's a really nice look IMO.

On the other hand, that's a pretty steep price for a 10/22...unless the dollar has really devalued that much in 2 years. I remember the basic wood/blue version was around $150 at that time.

Live_Free_Or_Die, that's a pretty average price now for one with a stainless barrel. The standard wood/blued model is $199.99 everywhere I see 'em anymore.

The Wally World 10/22 with the longer barrel is an exclusive to W-W. If you look at the side of the receiver, it will say "Rifle" and not "Carbine".

Dang. The dollar ain't what it used to be. Ask me again tomorrow and I'll probably have reason to say the same thing.

Not anymore. They used to, but sometime in the last couple of years they dropped the word "rifle." Now it just says Ruger 10/22 or something like that.

Wal-Mart still lists it on Wal-Mart.com, and I've seen them recently in a couple of stores around here, so they're still avaliable. They are really nice rifles. I had never wanted a 10/22 until I saw one.

Basically the WWS is a the same as the Ruger DSP (Delux Sporter) model, but for the birch stock and the 22" SS barrel. The DSP has a Walnut Stock and an 18 1/2 inch blued barrel. I've got one of each.

Wally World Special. Ths stock doesn't look that light in real life. I guess the flash lightened it a bit.

I like both of them.
