New Ruger ARX ammo?

This seems a cheaper (to manufacture) alternative to Lehigh Defense Xtreme Penetrator.
Unless these are dirt cheap, I would rather just use the Lehigh Defense bullet loaded hot by https://www.underwoodammo.com/ if I wanted a non-expanding slug that possessed better than FMJ terminal ballistics. I may purchase some 357Sig Underwood Xtreme Penetrators for trail use someday. Not today though.

These will probably be priced about the same as HST. Personally, I'll stick with HST.

Neat novelty ammo is still neat though.

Do they know something we don't? Like a forthcoming ban on "dum dum" pistol bullets for American Commoners.
They guessed wrong before when they brought out the short lived lever action version of the 10-22 in anticipation of a more strict AWB.

The model 96? Wish they still made it, I'd actually like to buy one, I like lever guns.

Getting back to the topic of the new ammo, I'd be curious to see what it does in a gel test.

For now I'm happy to stick with Hydra-Shoks and Hornady XTPs...

This "ARX technology" was under the PolyCase banner before being picked up by Ruger and gel test exist. Just as the Xtreme Pentrator, this bullet profile does perform better in gel than your typical FMJ, but not so much as JHPs.

I might try it out if it cost the as regular ammo but considering those types of rounds usually cost $1 per round I don't anticipate ever shooting any.

I can't imagine sales would ever amount to much. Nobody's going to blast through 100 rounds then go back and buy more. Most people will buy a box or 2, test it out and then sit on the remaining rounds for years.

I'm sure Ruger has no skin in the game and will just collect a royalty check without having to do any work so I guess I can't blame them.

I saw some Polycase ammo on the shelf at Bass Pro last month and couldn't believe they were actually selling it mainstream now. Remember reading an article on it back in a spring issue of American Rifleman or maybe Guns & Ammo... yay, more royalties for my favorite American arms maker! Good idea, and hope it works out ok. :)

With high price of copper, I don't blame them for trying something different. Only concern is does it foul like shotgun wads or what? Hmmm... time will tell.

Waiting for a solid range report!!!
