New Ruger SR22 pistol

That looks interesting. I have avoided these type of pistols like the Walther p22, and Sig Mosquito due to reliability, and quality issues. This may change my mind.

Looking forward to a shake down, and range report. It could be a fun, little plinker.

does not interest me much at first glance (that could change though). The new LCR & SP101 in 22lr i really really want.

I cant keep up with Ruger. New guns off the top of my head in the last year:
SP101 .22lr
SP101 .357 (4.25")
LCR .22lr
LC9
1911
Single 10
Scout rifle
American rifle

not sure if I would get it before a single 10 or sp101 in 22, but it does look neat. my first thought was also 'man that looks like the walther p22'. Maybe that similarity means that ruger will also offer this gun with a threaded barrel, like they do on the 22/45. Could be another easy option to get into suppressed fun.

Mine as well.

Either way, Ruger is taking leaps and bounds with the variety of their products this year. Holy cow. Very very impressive.

The mag release is the best part of the Walther. I wish all my guns had that style.

Looks interesting. It does LOOK like a Walther P22 a bit, but that doesn't mean they'll be similar regarding functionality. Ruger has a good track record with .22's.

Only thing I'd like to see is a longer barrel. .22's usually aren't used for concealed carry, so I don't see the need for shorter barrels on most of them.

I WILL say though that with the polymer frame and an aluminum slide, the price seems awfully high. The 22/45 is already retailing in the $250 range with a polymer frame and all-steel upper.

Looks great.

I like the Gunblast review where he said it shot everything he tried in it reliably including cheap bulk .22 ammo.

The thread title had me excited: The product let me down. Why did Ruger make the SR22 a hammer fired DA/SA pistol when the rest of the SR series are partially tensioned striker fired DAO pistols? The frame mounted safety/decocker on the SR22 doesn't mesh with their slide mounted safety/decocker P series DA/SA pistols either. Good concept, but poor design IMO.

The SR1911 isn't a striker fired DAO. When I saw the name I was thinking it was a .22 1911

Excuse me, the rest of the polymer frame SR series are striker fired. The SR1911 is a 1911 clone, and it's obviously not DA/SA either.

I have a Walther p22 and hate putting it back together because of the recoil spring. I looked at an exploded view on their web site and it appears the same. I could see differences but believe it to be a clone of the Walther. The only problem my Walther has is it doesn't like bullets that have a shoulder on them. Never had a failure with CCI minimags

I haven't seen a .22lr handgun with more than that. 10 is pretty standard.
Yep, although S&W does make both 10 & 12 round mags for the Model 41.

Ten is plenty for a .22 pistol. Get extra mags. They are cheap.

If you want more rounds in a .22, get an .22 AR upper with some Black Dog 30+ round mags.

I am like several who have posted, it looks a lot like a P-22, and kind of ho hum.

Ruger is definitely branching out and coming up with new things though, which is a good thing for gun enthusiasts.

Also the colt/umarex 1911 in .22lr is a 12 rounder. :)

I'd be interested if Ruger actually manufactures it. From what I've been able to find, IIRC, Colt outsources their 1911 .22 and I've seen some questions regarding the P22 being made by Walther or Umarex. I lfondled the Colt 1911 22 and at $400 I wasn't too thrilled to see Umarex on the slide. So Ruger yes not Ruger no.

I think it looks great, instant add to the short list. For the price these will be in stores, I'm heading out this week to see when my local Ruger dealer can get one for me. It has P-22-killer written all over it.
