New Ruger LC Carbine in .45 ACP

Don’t want another blowback PCC, don’t buy it, think it’s ugly, don’t buy it, but don’t knock those who want one. This is ‘murica, we have chocolate, vanilla, AND strawberry ice cream and you get to pick what you want. That’s the beauty of a free market. And I agree with the above posts, Ruger knows how to make a profit and they will sell a bunch of these to Glock 21 owners with lots of magazines already and the sad realization that Glock isn’t going to give us a PCC anytime soon.

Who's "knocking those who want one," in this thread?

Ruger will undoubtedly sell a pile of these, and good for them. But doesn't change my thoughts on another blowback PCC; and I certainly am not knocking anyone's choice to buy one.

Thank you….

A contrary opinion with zero ad-hominem embellishments…is ‘knocking’ those who like ‘em?

🤔

Lol.

I have my black rifles, and appreciate their transformer-like ability to morph into whatever role I need them too.

Doesn’t mean every rifle I like needs to be one….

Nor does it mean that there isn’t a large group of people that will love them and snatch them up.

Nobody knocked people who like it.

There are people who don't like what they see and people who do.

I would rather look at a burned fence post than this gun. It's a lot generational, and I am a big Ruger supporter, but what I liked they don't make anymore. I don't dislike people for liking any firearm.

There is an expanding market for "featureless" semi-autos rifles- traditional fixed-stocked with no pistol grip, no upper handguard or barrel shroud, no flash suppressor or threaded barrel. Henry almost has it right, with just the threaded muzzle putting it on newly minted naughty lists.

I prefer plane jane rifles, preferably with a wooden stock. But I would consider buying a rifle like the new Ruger 45. I wonder if the inverse is true? Would the tacti-cool crowd consider buying the new Ruger 45 if it was in a plain-jane wrapper?

Kinda looks like a hi-point and a Taurus had a love affair, and Ruger adopted the offspring. Still, I like it better than the 5.7, and it is a few lbs lighter than a Thompson. If I could buy one where I live I'd sure go look at it.

Kind of ugly. I was curious if there were any new Ruger PC 9 offerings. Yep folding stock for some models but no pics of it folded.

If mine ever gets here I’ll post a picture of it folded. Street price is $200 less than MSRP….

I bought one a couple weeks ago and have shot a couple mags so far, My old wywa had a problem with the sights as I put a Holosun 510C on it and likeOt for a sight. Need to get some more range time with it.

@Riomouse911 - not to be an enabler…

CA Ruger LC 45

I have a ton of Glock 21 mags and about 500 lbs of 45 components. I must resist…

Thankfully they are out of stock and I am trying to show restraint.
I just can’t do that kydex “fin” on any of the pistol gripped rifles.

Plus the stash of .45 is dwindling quickly as I am breaking in the new Baer.

Stay safe.

I'd be interested in a braced pistol version.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Ruger has turned a profit every year since their inception. Unlike many of their competitors, they are debt free and operate on cash. I think they know what they're doing by now.

I have pretty much lost interest in my Ruger PC Carbine after buying my PC charger. I REALLY love the compact package. I would be interested in a pistol braced version of the new Ruger 45 carbine too!

You liked it well enough to SBR it, I guess that says something.

Still waiting for some of these to be a delayed system rather than straight blowback. The Ruger Charger would be very sweet if that were the case for me.

Agreed! The Charger/Carbine would be excellent in a delayed system. The recoil isn't punishing in the least, but it is annoying.

I had a brace on the Charger when the brace ban free registration was going on.

I've been wondering how long it will be till ruger throws in the towel on the American pistol line and tries to take another swing at a duty pistol. Perhaps this is a sign that they know its not going anywhere.

Now that Glocks are off patent, couldn't Ruger start building Glock pattern pistols, and thus eliminate the need to develop their own? Seems like Ruger service autos are good for about 10 or 15 yrs before they move on to some other design.

Ruger certainly ripped off the Keltec P380 design for the LCP. They also tried their hand at the AR world. IMHO Ruger's niche is their own designs though. I can't see them coming out with a YAGC (yet another Glock clone).

Be nice to buy an integrally suppressed barrel for one of those. Sight it in for 147gr xtps

They kinda already did that. The SR9/SR40/SR45 pistols were straight rip offs of glock's whole fire control mechanism. They added a manual safety and a little lever that allowed you to deckock them without pulling the trigger, but otherwise they operated identically.

The LC9 and LC380 is also a product improved copy of the keltec PF9, and then when they redesigned it to make the striker fired LC9s and Max 9, they just took a stroll over to Kahr and copied their fire control group. Ruger is pretty good at reading off other peoples papers.

What's really funny is that the P365 is a copy of the LC9s, which is in turn a copy of Kahr and a Keltec, so its a copy of a copy of a copy. The keltec and kahr probably also borrowed some ideas from somewhere. I'm afraid there isn't much truly new in the world of handguns. Just about every successful idea has been done before.

Yea I never thought they would do a 1911, but they did. I think they would put a lot of the other Glock clone makers out of business if they decided to make a Glock clone.

Hmmm...
Ruger 45 carbine ~$830
Kriss Vector in 45acp or 10mm ~$1300
Might be worth it to step up to a delayed much smoother shooting carbine... if you can get over the looks?
