New Ruger Single Ten

They just shoved nine holes through the new Rough Riders. Which I kinda thought was two holes too many, given their not-quite-NASA-ish metalurgy practices......

I guess they want to slow down folks some, on account of so many of 'em loading up (and emptying fired cases) from those SA six shooters so doggone fast ????

(the good news is that at least they ain't trying to put 410 shot shells in 'em)

Bad enough I've been waffling between the single-six and the bearcat for a SA plinking toy ... and now THIS adds another contender?

What's next, a break-top? I'll never be able to choose now.

As much as I discovered that I love my old used Single Six I recently got I just have to shake my head at the idea of a Single Ten. Ten round cylinders should only be found on swing out ejector or break top revolvers.

I'm going to bet that it would be a lot faster to just drop the cylinder full of empties out by pulling out the cylinder pin, push out the casings with a home made ten pin ejector and then load up the cylinder with fresh ammo two or even three at a time depending on how the rounds come to hand from the pile and then slip the loaded cylinder back into the frame and re-insert the pin.

Instead of this they should have gone with an 8 or 9 round SP101 based gun set up with a 4.2 to 5 inch barrel.

Sorry. Not interested. If I'm in a hurry to shoot up my ammo, I'll use my MK II.

In the meantime, I never had any problem with drop six in, punch six out, drop six in.

Fiber optic sights? :barf: Even with my old eyes, I think I'll pass.

Maybe they should just hang a rail off it.

Now THAT is a good idea, I should make a speedunloader / speedloader combo for my NAA mini

I like it! Don't care for the front sight but when it comes to capacity in a .22LR, the more the merrier. Only problem is just that I've developed a strong preference for Old Model actions and XR3 grip frames.

Glad I got my 12/22 two years ago, before prices went up. Only about a hundred bucks more than a New Vaquero. ;)

Already Got a Single-Six

I just wish they would have done a 10-shot DA, I would be all over it.

How come Taurus is the only one with a reasonably priced 9-shot .22 DA revolver? S&W is too damned proud of their 10-shot to even consider it.

Nope. I like my Single Six and the 22mag option alone would keep me from buying it.

My thought exactly ... and I'd even go for a 3-inch barrel.

I think they did a .22 SP101 for a little while. 4" barrel, six shots. Other than that it was identical to the regular versions. I like the idea. It makes practicing with it cheaper.

Hmmmm Why Not?

Well, I gave my Single Six Convertible to my best buddy a few years ago and have been half tempted to replace it. Never did use the .22 Mag cylinder but for a few times. A ten-shot in stainless might be just the thing. Now that I'm in my 50's, I'd give the (ugh - non-traditional) fiber optic a try. Eyesight isn't what it used to be. I'm just glad Ruger's still willing to try something a little new now and then - I've liked their products nearly 40 years now.
