Have you seen Ruger's new Single 10 single action 22/lr revolver? It's not a convertible, no 22 mag cylinder. I think I'll stick with my Single Six.

They'll sell a ton of these. The ten shot capacity will appeal to some, for me, it's the Williams adjustable fiber optic sights and the fact that it is a dedicated 22 LR bore. The convertibles use a bore size for the 22 Magnum and the LR do the best it can in that barrel. Expensive, but , what ain't these days.

Myself personally, I would also prefer the traditional 6 rounds and the option of magnums. I will not be getting one, but to each his own.

That thing would be a pain to reload not realy my style I think the single six fits me just fine.

I do recall reading that the bore/barrel is identical to the S-6. I may be mistaken, however.

I don't mean to call folks out or spit on anyone's dog but I can fire five rounds, reload and fire five more rounds through a Single Six in less than 18secs. If you think they're slow to reload, the problem ain't the sixgun, it's your proficiency.

Unless you're using speedloaders, the only advantage a DA has over a SA is unloading speed. Because all six (or ten) may be ejected at once. However, a SA can be unloaded very quickly if you're practiced. A DA does not reload very quickly without speedloaders, which nobody uses them for the range anyway. Great for a quick refresh if you're after bunnies but not practical at the range. With a DA, cartridges must be deliberately inserted into each chamber. Even loading two at a time, a SA can be reloaded faster. With a DA, you have two cartridges in your hand, deliberately insert them into two chambers, repeat three times. With a SA, you grab five or six cartridges at once and simply drop them into the loading gate one at a time. They will find their way into the chambers very quickly.

Depending on final cost, might be my next gun to go along with my inherited .38 S&W. I like revolvers more than autos and this one looks real nice.

Another thing I don't like about the Single 10 is the time it will take to manually eject 10 fired casings and reload 10 more rounds

Guess which one will shoot seven shots the fastest?
Besides, if you had ten shots you might not have to reload.

Single 10

Hope it isn't an example of Ruger's quality control, but saw a new Single 10 at the gunshop yesterday as the manager was boxing it up to send back. 3 of the 5 frame screws were missing.

Sure hope not...

It that true about the bore. I was under the impression that all of the Ruger SA .22s had the same bore diameter.

I like the single 10 and all of the great guns that Ruger has been putting on the market lately. Ruger is definately on thier game. I'm still saving for the 1911...

Like many have stated, I'll stick with the six shot convertible. I also do not like the front sight on the 10 shot revolver.

I have not found the source but I have also recently read where the bore diameters are different in the straight 22LR as compared to the convertible models.
