Has anyone purchased the new savage scout rifle with their accutrigger. I've had my eye on one but i hear they had a problem with magazines on their earlier design is that still a issue with the newer design magazine system. Thanks probably buy it anyways though.

Can you post a link to info on the rifle? I just looked at the Savage website and could not find anything on the rifle.

I have looked for those for a while, but can find no info..

I am interested in one too...

Matt

Savage and Stevens guns all (except for the .223 currently) use a magazine that centers the top cartridge like Glock does. The bolt pushes the cartridge staight into the chamber. They feed very well even with oddly shaped cartridges.

Savage scout

No it was'nt the hunter series I hav'nt found it on their website but it's in their 2007 catalog. It's exactly like the old scout rifle except the trigger and magazine box is different. It has a metal box mag if i recall and the release is not on the side of the stock there maybe some other differences also.

My understanding, at least a few months ago, was that this had to be ordered from the custom shop. Is there a new model out?

I've wanted one for a long time, but they are not often seen around here...

I know what he is talking about... Lemme get my 07 catalog.... real quick....

barrel is 20 inches
weight 6.25lbs
Accutrigger
Detachable box magazine
Stock options: HS-Precision
Dual pillar bedding
Blued Satin finish

Thats all I could find

Savage scout

The one i've been eyeing has the b-square forward mount it's just sitting on the rack teasing me when i go to the gun store.

thats funny, on their web site they are calling the 10 FCM the Sierra

Savage hasn't updated their webpage to accurately reflect their 2007 offerings yet.

to see the "new" stuff and line up changes (such as the FCM reverting from Sierra back to the Scout designation) you have to go to the customer support page and follow the link for "Download Literaure" and then click on the Savage arms 2007 catalog. In the PDF layout the Scout is the first gun listed/pictured on page 26 (of 68).

and the picture says "scope, rings, bases, and bipod not included"
So i guess you would have to buy your own mount. Wha? Huh? why would they not include the base? That does not sound like good marketing.

yeah to keep their costs down but they would lose their market because why would someone buy a rifle advertised as a scout but without the proper mount. plus it doesn't have the third sling swivel. still does not make sense. EDIT found this info at a distributor site SV10FCMSCOUT308

I ordered one from Gilbertsguns ($519) some info on the catalog is wrong. It does come with the Bsquare scope base, a nylon sling with a big loop, and swivels. It has a rear Williams peep sight but without a threaded insert and has a tiny brass bead front sight on a crude ramp with no sight hood. It has one 4+1 detachable magazine with the newly designed release on the bottom in front of the magazine instead of the button on the side of the stock; and of course it has the Accu-trigger. The magazine fit and release seems pretty good I don't know what it used to be like but it seems to be pretty well engineered now, I did not get to function test it though w/ any cartridges but it seemed pretty smooth and tight fitting. The catalog states as well as some websites describe it as having the H-S Precision stock with two aluminum pillars but I have not verified this (I am pretty sure it is just a very plain black synthetic stock b/c of the price, and comparing it to the H-S stocks on their LE series pictures). It has the smaller bolt knob with some checkering on the top. The bolt looks like polished chrome, not park/matte with the Scout logo anymore. I get to pick it up after Thanksgiving. I am working up some loads now with Ramshot TAC and H4895 (ligher bullets/lower vel.). Does anyone know of any after market stocks for this model? The ones I have seen are for model 10s but for the blind magazine, can this be cut open?
