I'm looking for a scope for the Browning BLR in 300 Winchester magnum, any suggestions? The Vortex and Leupold are both high respected and I'm most likely going to buy one of them but what model is right for that rifle and I want the most bang for my buck.

Best bang for the buck

This scope originally sold for $550 ten years ago. Due to competition the price settled at around $400 before it was discontinued by Zeiss a couple of years ago. Eurooptics bought up the remaining stock and is selling them out.

That scope is actually USA made by Meopta and is still being sold as a Cabelas brand. The Instinct Euro series of scopes sold by Cabelas at $450 is the exact same scope. $450 is a fair price, but as long as the original Conquest is available for $329 it is a steal.

Vortex makes good glass, as good or better than Leupold. But other features make Leupold a better scope in my opinion. I like the Vortex binocular better than Leupold binoculars for the glass. But simply prefer the Leupold scope features.

If you don't want the Zeiss I'd save my money and buy the Leupold VX-2 in a 3-9X40 over the VX-3. For about $300 you can get a standard duplex VX-2. For $350 you can get a VX-2 with either long range dots or with a custom dial for long range work. If you want either of the long range reticles the VX-2 is by far the best bang for the buck.

My favorite scope that I own for a hunting/target rifle is my Burris C4. They make a newer Burris C4 Plus and they come specific to your load(round) that shoots the best out of your gun. Mine is crystal clear and tough as nails( I dropped it on a rock when I tripped in the mountains and gouged the scope out on the side and it didn't lose zero). The newer 3x9x40(30mm tube) is $329. I would get the 30mm tube for more adjustment. I got the 1 inch tube on my .308 and it only dials out to 500 yards. If I had gotten he 30mm tube I probably could have gotten closer to 800 yards with the BDC dial. I also love the Vortex guarantee. I have a strike eagle on an AR and it is a well finished scope. I have never been in love with Leupold, I just can't put my finger on it but I think they are lackluster scopes for the price. Good luck!

Hunting out in Colorado, is the main purpose of this rifle setup. Thank you for the replies so far, it will give me something else to look for. the more ideas the better.
