Over the years i have shot all sorts of shotguns. Mainly cheapies and cast offs that other people don't want.
About 2 months ago my cousin had some shooting lessons. i had him pass these on to me. we looked mainly at gun mounting.
about 4 weeks ago my dad came up to visit me. whilst he was here he bought a new beretta ultralight delux at a local gun shop (£1500). we then went and tried the new gun out at the local clay club. he used the ultralight and i used his silver pigeon s. I shot really well.
I am the chairman of a wildfowling club (coastal duck hunting). we have just bought 2 traps to do a bit of club practise etc.
So i decided i needed a decent shotgun. I went to the gunshop and saw a miroku mk 70 Grade 3 sporter. it was in excellant condition showing very little use. But it was much more money than i could afford. I asked the shop owner if he could put it on "layby" (where he puts it in the back and i drop in and pay a bit off it at a time). I thought this would take about a year.
I went home and later spoke to dad on the phone, told him i had this gun on layby and thought nothing more of it.
two days later i got a text message from dad "go to johns (the gun shop) and collect your gun. he had taken it off his own back and telephoned John at the shop he had paid for the gun out of his own pocket.
Thanks dad.
In the years to come i will be able to hand it down to my son and him to his and my dads hand will reach through the generations and down the years.
